The best part about working at #SearsHoldings was
I met a lot of people whom I've gained a good rapport with. Working in the jewelry department was fun, you got to touch thousands of dollars worth of jewelry!!! My co workers and got along great, and our manager was very nice and worked well with us. I didn't wait for someone to tell me what to do, I knew what I had to do and did it. I really miss helping people pick out a fabulous gift for a loved one.

A #stressful #SearsHoldings day
Oh boy. I worked for Sears for 4 years and after the 2nd year I hated it. We were asked to do more things in less time. Cover more with less people but still get good or awesome results. The thing is they had 2 people in a department working and one cashier. 2 people on floor had to give customer service, take care of the fitting rooms, maintain the floor clean and looking good, all shirts and pants folded, replenish the floor, do floor plan movements, and still answer to the managers on time when called. All in 4 to 6 hours. Customers sometimes get a bit exhausting, they don't want to look by themselves, they want you to look for them everything, and they also want you to listen to their traumas in personal life. Some customers are messy.
And thing is 2 people can't handle a whole department. I was a Loss Prevention associate. I was assigned the men's department door and while I was there I would get a lot of customers from other areas looking for help and I could never say no to them. I could get in trouble if I refuse to give customer service. I was supposed to make my job as a loss prevention associate and stay in the door but that was practically impossible when people needed my assistance, like getting a shirt or getting someone that could help them to get the shirt they wanted, the size they want. Sometimes I even had to go to the cashiers and do customer service there. sometimes there were only two loss prevention Associates in the store to cover for doors at the same time and couldn't be done.
Every day was a stressful at Sears for some reason. I understand that some employees won't do their job right but some do and still customers will come back to the store trying to get the upper hand. Some of our services for exmple the guarantees on some Hardware. We were constantly telling customers that what they want couldn't be done, like after 30 days you cannot return your items. Sometimes they'd come with broken Hardware or Power tools and want to return it and we couldn't process the return. We were responsible with the policies of the company and we said no. When things like that happen usually the customer will always go and ask for a manager. The manager didn't want to, you know handle the customer or do customer service and they will just go ahead and accept the return and give him a new power tool which make us look bad for trying to be loyal to the policies.
Also some managers weren't right to do their job because maybe they were lazy or something or they had favoritism over some employees. We will go to the human resources and we will file a complaint but it never got too far.
In the store that I was at there was someone that was in charge to do a job and that department needed like three people. There was only him into the apartment so he wouldn't do anything and then he would ask for help, so someone will go there and help him and put everything up to date then our manager would take the credit for all the work and she would never recognize us.
She always wanted to look good.
She was a very calculating observant boss and she would look at other people instead of being looking for thieves inside the store, she was looking at all the employees all the time to then go ahead to the other managers that were in charge of those people and give them bad feedback. So obviously the other managers would observe us kinda like stalk us and then give her a bad feedback. Sometimes they were lies and she would give us warnings and s*** for things that we didn't do.
Managers would refuse to give customer service to the customers that we're not so pleasant and they would send the supervisors to deal with the things that were bad at the store.
So, it was really bad. Like he company itself was struggling to make it. Tools we needed to do the job were malfunctioning most of the time, The POS is old to do transactions, managers a put under too much pressure and some of them just leave all on the regular employees.
So Sears was a good place to work years before but now it is not worth it.
