Is anyone hiring a Sales Director, Customer Success, or Manager of Talent Acquisition?

Took time off
I was a senior advertising sales director who took time off after having a heart attack and am having a hard time getting employees to consider me now despite my past successes.

Sales Director
I was hired in April as a Sales Director. I had no quota my first quarter being new to the industry. I was there 2 months of my first quarter and closed 3 deals. The CEO and VP of Sales couldn't believe it. I closed another two deals my next quarter. I worked for the company for 5 months and when my 3rd quarter review was set up as a call, I was called by my VP and HR. They told me they needed to lay me off because the position was being eliminated. I started looking in the industry and a recruiter in Georgia who worked with this small industry told me that they let me go to bring back a woman who quit and decided she didn't like her new job. Now I am having the worst time getting a job because employers think I must have done something wrong. This was so unethical and I just can't believe it. I don't know what to do because my company prior was a start up and they laid off the entire N. Cal sales team too. I have great references from both, but it isn't helping me. This is the most unethical thing in my entire career and now I am very concerned I may not get hired somewhere.
