Just burnt out

I'm just needing to get this out, talk, or something. I'm an RN... I've been a good nurse. Got my RN in 1994. Have worked in just about every area of nursing. My career has ended after a facility I worked for rounded up a large group of us "long timers" service years ranging from 8 to 38 years, myself of 16 years, and forcing resignations or be fired. 19 of us nurses in just over 2 months had this happen to us. For me this has been just over 3 years ago. I was fortunate enough to get a office nurse job, making $30,000 less per year than what I had been making, but as a single mom of 2 kids, not able to leave the area, choices are limited. Some of the other nurses had to leave their homes, and others were able to get home health jobs, etc. The hospital however hired new, young, cheaper nurses to take our places. Yea, it has suffered in its own way due to getting rid of all those seasoned nurses. For me, the area where i live is small, not many choices for a Nurse. I loved what i have done, not so much where or who i have worked for. Nursing has let me down. I thought spending a lifetime working with people would have meant something, friendships, family, etc, but, mostly I find the majority nurses will only look out for themselves, and cast their eyes downward instead of stand up to do what is right. Sure there is still a small percentage that will. Maybe I am part of that small percentage, and because I am, I am in the position I am in. Unfortunately, i have had the unrealistic expectation that nurses in general had the same morals, and expectations of each other that I have had. I have learned an unfortunate lesson about the career choice I had made so long ago. Getting back to the reasoning for my post... I am 48 years old. I have done nothing but nursing my whole career, and I am completely soured with it. It has been a waste of time, knowledge, and effort, and I would like to do something else with myself, but I am at a loss for what. I have loved what I have done with my career, just not what my career has done with me. I would like to find something to work from home. I'm used to phone triage, as an RN at the office I currently am in. So if there are any

RN blacklisted

I have been a registered nurse for 17 years and I have extensive experience in many different fields. My name specialty was the ER. I resigned in Lou of being terminated from my position at a hospital seven years ago because of conflicts with a new trauma director, who later was terminated for stealing hospital information and escorted out of the building. This person fired several excellent registered nurses from minuscule reasons. When I called to ask why I had been blacklisted I received two different stories. One was "misconduct", and one was "progressive disciplinary action". I spoke with the medical director of the emergency room in that particular hospital and told her that I wanted my job back. This was a casual passing in the hallway, and she told me to go directly to the emergency department and speak with the nurse manager because they she wanted me back. I went to the president of the hospital as well as the chief nursing officer, the chief nursing officer refused to take me off of the do not rehire list. The second occurrence was following a hip replacement surgery in the hospital lacking to attempt to find light duty when my FMLA expired and I was terminated. This was a violation of the labor laws and I brought a lawsuit against that hospital and won, but part of the agreement was that I was never allowed to apply there again nor was I allowed to make disparaging remarks. I believe that when perspective employers call these two hospitals that disparaging things are being said about me. I have excellent references, one of which called me following an interview that went very well and said "they really liked you and they want to hire you." Several of the people in the interview were aware of the what was happening with this trauma director at that hospital and had left because of it. But the following week I got a phone call saying they had chosen another candidate. I live in a very small state and I'm having a lot of difficulty finding a job after a year off for hip revision surgery, as the initial hip replacement was botched. I am an excellent registered nurse, I have always received many complements from the patients I have taken care of, and have even had a patient contact me outside of The hospital to thank me and to tell me I was the reason she was going to nursing school. I have tried to the best of my ability to explain the situations without seeming like I was bad mouthing the hospitals, and I have tried saying nothing. Can anyone help me? I'm not sure how else to handle this and I am in desperate need of work in order to support my family.

I will preface my posting by saying I love this site- very candid conversations about the job market- Ok...I am a Registered Nurse and have been for 30 years with 1/2 that time in management and the rest as a staff nurse as I got fed up with management- twice in my career I was termed while in management because I didn't play by their rules for lack of a better phrase-the 1st time I sued and would have been successful but didn't pursue it due to a miscarriage and then a diborce- the 2nd time , I didn't hire a lawyer as felt pointless - did contact the age discrimination board for Wisconsin but without success- I decided to go back to staffing this am an RN at a local prison- last week I was told by a reliable colleague to watch my back as they are out to get me- sure as heck, called in today for an investigation and my gut feelings kicked in from my previous two experiences-now that I see the writing on the wall , I am wondering if I should just resign or go back into a hostile work environment and just wing it as I planned to work full time for the next 22 months before retiring- all three experiences really bother me as I have never in my 30 year career, had a patient complain about me- disgusted, wondering what to do- another aside, I do have FMLA for my heart and just got it about a month ago- wondering if this is it or because I told my direct supervisor the employees are to take e0 minute breaks and she can not force them to sign out they took them if they didn't- just looking for input, any welcome and thank you in advance

E

job as case manager

I know Regi is out their...hello. I am working now in assisted living as a RN/ I to was let go from a lucrative job due to trouble with my son which lead to officials in which ripped my job from under my feet. I believe everyone should be given a chance to clear themselves especially after so many years of service. Was she really given a fair chance. Its not like she had been malicious. People standing out in hallways discussing patients break HIPPA everyday...don't they. I realize on most computer at work they can see what you are doing. I believe all of us deserve a better arbitration. If Jullian did this again then yes. I know I will hear some flack. I believe I deserved a chance with Humana and I fight disagreement every day.
