Discouraged
I was hired at a company and they gave me 5 whole days to learn the job before they cut me loose. Said I wasn't picking up speed like they wanted to see. However they did say based on other aspects of my job performance that they would be willing to give me a reference.

Resume questions
I have no problem landing positions, or job assignments. But when it come to leaving my current position at a current job, I have problems with the employer of some sort. I don't want put them on blast, but what can I say beside the real truth of leaving my current employer?

Fired!
I was recently fired from a non profit job 4 days before my 90 days probation was up. There was no formal processes or progress report plan within the 90 days.
I was an Administrative Director and was verbally told by the VP there were no complaints and my staff was happy. Then on my last and final day I was told one hlur before close of business i was "not a good fit". I have been job hunting for to moths and had several interviews.
My question is, what should I say if asked on an application and/or interview if at all, why i was fired?

References checked but no offer yet....
This is sort of an update to another posting of mine concerning references and a job that really, really, really want! If anyone has thoughts or advice to the situation, I'm all ears!!
Anyway I found out that both my references were contacted, and they both said they gave me 5-star reviews. My one ref even said that they were speaking very high on me and that he would be very surprised if I didn’t get the job. Great news!!!
Well, fast forward to now, a week and half later, and nothing! I followed up with the hiring manager last week and got a wish washy response saying that they are working through some "internal red tape" but I’m still in the running.
I'm trying to stay positive but the waiting and not knowing is sooo frustrating, and I don't really know what to think. This company is a very large health care company so maybe there’s some approval process they have go through that's taking longer than expected?!! I guess that’s what hoping for! But I’m thinking I'm going to move on after this week if I don’t hear anything. I don't know why it would take this long to make a decision when my references were 5-star reviews!
Thanks for reading!

Livid
I haven't been around due to trying to find a job. Had a few interviews that went great and no response back. Had one place give me the hiring paperwork to fill out then I was informed that they are going with someone else. I just found out why. Had a friend call looking for a referral and the manager at where I worked trashed me right from the start. When they said really? I have called the other references and got a completely different story. Nothing negative at all. That's when he jumped the fence and started saying things like she was always on time, rarely if ever called in sick, would come into cover if needed. That reference is now off my resume.

Sabotage
I feel like there may be a couple of people try to sabotage me with my present employer and peers. So, I decided to move on after 4 years of search for a career boost after obtaining my Bachelors Degree, I found a wonderful job with a world of possibilities. One of the employees that always tried to undermine me, sabotage, talk about me to other employees about me, now is asking for my new employers contact information. I dont trust her. I do not want to share this Info with the ones I know blocked me from opportunities with in the company. How do I handle not sharing information with her??? because I fear she will try to get me fired before I even start. I dont trust her... and have a bad feeling about her motives.

How character references can help you land a job
If you have a poor work history, gaps in employment, a criminal record or other problems that are hindering your landing a new job, character references can go a long way in bolstering a prospective employer's confidence in bringing you on board.
Who makes the best character reference? Now don't pad the list with your BFFs and running buddies -- Ha! Take time and give this serious consideration. Business owners and managers whom you know well. Former work colleagues. A favorite teacher with whom you've stayed in touch. Your pastor, rabbi or other spiritual advisor. A longtime neighbor. A family friend. You get the idea.
Reach out to them and ask for their help. I promise you'll get it. And with it, lots of moral support too.

So need help
The last company i was with is makeing it hard for me to get a new job, because of the reason they fired me! How can i get them to not tell the companies thst im applying to that some one lied & got me fired? Plaese i need help hear.

References not checked... what to do?!!!??
Hi all, would love anyone’s thoughts on this one! Got an email last week from the hiring manager saying I've made it to the next round in the process and asking for 2-3 references that they would be contacting next week. After receiving that email, I hurriedly contacted my references and told them they would be hearing from someone in the next week.
It's now the next week, Friday. I've reached out to both my references — not one has heard anything from anyone. Radio freaking silence!!
So today I decided to send a follow-up to the hiring manager, asking if there are any status updates. (I didn't mentioned anything about me knowing my references have not been checked). She responded in saying that they are still in the middle of reference checking and will know more next week.
TBH I feel like this was a BS response they are giving me and that I’m just their back-up candidate in case their #1 falls through. You've had the whole week and not one reference has been contacted?!!! It really bothers me on why they would you even ask me for references if the first place... if A) you are not going to contact them and B) I’m only your runner-up candidate. I find it rude and sort of humiliating that I would go to the trouble to contact my references, only for them not to get a call. I guess there’s always a chance that she is going to contact them, but my gut is telling me different…

Is a former employer allowed to give you a bad reference? In a word, YES.
If you have been terminated, faced disciplinary action, or had other problems on past jobs, your former employers CAN reveal that to a company considering you. Contrary to common belief, there ISN'T a law prohibiting this. As long as the information is truthful and factual it can be revealed. While companies may have a policy to only confirm that you were employed, they are not limited to only providing that information.
How do you overcome this if you have problems in your work history? First of all, take an honest assessment of your performance and/or behavior that resulted in your former employer's action. Own what happened when interviewing -- and bring it up first. Explain briefly what occurred -- and how you have learned and grown from the experience. That way YOU control the way in which your prospective employer learns about what happened. Be upfront and be positive and confident .. and most of all, be honest.
