Its crazy u can be qualified but over qualified for a job!
It's crazy out here people be too qualified but companies don't want to pay u like u weight. Sad .. it feels like slavery again...shouldn't matter what degree u have but u willing to work for their company and be part of the team! Money is money..

What to do if Employers say you are overqualified, during interviews.
After working 50 - 60 hour work weeks for many years, I would like to find a job that I can use my previous management experience, but also enjoy. Have applied to lower management jobs, but after my second or third interview, typically find that companies think that I am overqualified.

I know exactly what you mean. I went on an interview and the manger told me and I "QUOTE" you do know that you have to much experience and that you are over qualified for this position. I said to her well would you just look at my experience and not the years, because I will not play myself short. So when I left the interview I thanked her for taking the time to speak with me. So just shake the DEVIL OFF and keep looking something will work out.

Ware house supviser
A lot of companies saying am over qualified cause my experience as a warehouse manager

Interviews
I have been on many interviews but I just have to tell you that my background with the interview that I had gone on the other day was one that I would fit perfectly you see my background is in retail and the job was minimum wage and although I don't want a job that pays that low I would of been willing to take it. I was just turned away said I was over qualified and wished me luck on finding an opportunity. It was part time and I would be doing cashiering and stocking the floor done that many times in the past. It was a drug store and got turned away because my qualifications don't match what they are looking for. Really it don't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. I don't believe it.

Dumb down your resume?
I have been searching for a job in private security or law enforcement for more than a year now. I a Marine Corps veteran where I served as a Marine Security Guard at 3 U.S. emabassies, former municipal police officer, former federal law enforcement officer, former high risk security contractor with more than 6 years spent in Afghanistan, more than 7 years of instructing law enforcement officers in the U.S. and overseas and 2 classes away for my bachelor's degree in Homeland Security and yet I still cannot find a job without being told I'm over qualified or I need either an associate's or bachelor's degree. I have 115 credits of 121 needed to graduate, but have been knocked out of consideration because I didn't hold the paper of either although I have more credits than what is required for an associate's degree. Here recently I am now being told that my resume is intimidating! Intimidating? What does that mean? Why call me in for an interview to tell me something so lame, weak, and with very little meaning? Are we now supposed to dumb down our resumes to make the hiring manager feel more confident about their own experiences? I had a general Manger tell me that I was just as qualified to have his job and that he would have a hard time hiring me because he couldn't pay me what I bring to the table. Then why have me come in for an interview? It is so confusing and frustrating finding a career today. Hopefully this spring (with degree in hand) I will land something in line with my background and experience....but who knows? #overqualified #agediscrimination

Over qualified & Job scared.
I just got back from my second interview for a construction company. I applied for a heavy equipment operator position. I have 30 years experience. I showed up 15 minutes early. They told me they liked me and my experience from first interview. They informed me the superintendent would have final say. So they wanted me to show that I could do what I claimed. They sent to a job site and put me on 3 different pieces of equipment. A front end loader, excavator and a bulldozer. I ran each one for about 15mins.each. They had a pipe crew that was trying to connect to existing water line. Superintendent told me they had been trying for 2 days. I told the pipe Forman a couple of things to try. He did and made the connection in about 15mins. He thanked me for my help. The superintendent and I went to the site trailer and he said it was obvious I knew what I was doing. But he didn't need someone to do his job and I wasn't what he wasn't looking for. That I had to much experience for the position. Sounds job scared to me.

What happens of your over qualified?
Ya know I have had long term employment 14 years same place. Been a couple of interviews and did not get the job because I believe I am over qualified ugghhh. Should I take stuff off my resume? Go into an interview and not say much I just don't know anymore. I need a new job and just can't seem to get one.

Knowing more than the interviewer
First of all, I have am extensive Resume expierence in Management and Executive Position for more than 15 years.
Recently I was victim of Hurricane Maria in PR and relocate to US because of the economical hardships that PR is confronting and many companies are not doing well.
Now, I had a recent interview for a management position in a large retail corporation, ( for the record I was the Human Resource Manager for a S&P 500 retail corporation ). The short story is, the interviewer know less about management than me in all areas. In the same interview he don't know basic code like KPI (key performance indicators) or UPT (Units per Transaction). At that very moment I knew he will not call me for the job. 2 day after my prediction was true, receive an email saying that I was overqualified.
If you don't have experience or college degree is bad and if you have your college degree and good experience is worst .
How will the companies survive if they are not hiring good talent?

Managers behavior/
I'm not a heavy writer, but right now I'm really upset with my husband journey trying to find a new job. Let me made a resumes. Not because he is my husband I'm going to sell him as a best employee. He is human, believe me. But, the point is: he is Mechanical Engineer, with experience in several fields such as Management, inventory, budgeting, operations, logistics, purchasing, supply chain, costing products, coding products as well. the mad mood is because is up to manager to decide who he is "overqualified", and place some stupids assessments to be do per candidate. I made enfassis , stupids assessments, which are full of"place square, triangles, circles in the right spot in 4 seconds..really??? does this kind of dump assessments determine the capability of the candidate to be hired. why managers has the power to classified candidates "overqualified", just to justified that you don't want to hire that person. "The first impression matters", really, that' fake and a big lie. 90% of the managers hire the candidate that they like the most, period. and this happen in all the websites, Monster, Indeed, Linkedin, and many other. They lie and play with the hope and necessity that people have to land in the job. Why??? Because all the managers forgot when they were looking for job, why??? because they are full or dark intentions. They don't care the well being of the company, they so selfish...I would like to make my toughs more public.
