I am struggling to find a rewarding job, preferably as an administrative assistant or executive assistant in Montana Billings area.

Had a phone interview with a company located in Chicago hiring for a position where I live in Montana. The phone interview seemed to go well the hiring agent said she would be in town in a couple of weeks and call me for a face to face interview. Now a few days later I received a generic email stating that I am no longer being considered for the position. Should I email the hiring manager back inquiring about this email?

Background: I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MS in Engineering Management. I have about 9 years professional experience.

I got laid off from the oil field in April of 2015. I got a job with the government in November of 2015. I really can't complain about the pay or hours or people I work with. But the work I do is of no interest to me. I live in Montana so there just aren't that many jobs but I don't want to live anywhere else. I haven't really even had many interviews in the almost 2 years since I was laid off despite applying to dozens of jobs.

I got an interview for a job I think i'd enjoy. The catch is the company is owned by my wife's sister-in-laws family. I don't have the experience they are looking for but would be able to learn quickly and do the job. I'm just waiting to here back to see if I got the job.

We'd have to move which is great because its to a part of the state I really want to live. It would be a lateral move as far as pay is concerned. My wife is 6 month pregnant so that is stressful and housing is tight in the new area.

I don't have a question or complaint. I'm just venting and feeling stuck in life.
