Veterans: Easily Transition from the Military to the Workplace

Wells Fargo helps vets figure out the best to success for them in the private sector with tons of programs and opportunities.

Hear it from Mike Caraballo, who served for 34 years in the Amy Reserves, and is now a project manager at the bank!!

Dont know what to do

I am 50 years old. I am a retired Chief Petty Officer with 23 years experience in the Navy. I was a supervisor/trainer/instructor/mentor etc etc while in the Navy. I retired, and went to school have my Bachelors in Hospitality and a Masters in Public Administration. I have a job right now but only pays 14.00 an hour. I have applied to hundreds of jobs with all types of resumes. Others have told me that my resume is great. I have not even had a call for an interview. What am I doing wrong? I am not looking for only supervisory jobs. I am looking for like an HR generalist, or some sort of other lower level job with the opportunity to move up. What am I doing wrong? Any advice? The only jobs I had calls on are insurance companies wanting me to sell insurance etc. and of course they are commission only. Thanks in advance.

The best benefit at #GuantanamoBay,Cuba was definitely...

I've served time in Guantanamo Bay as an Active Military then as a Civilian a few years later. The unaccompanied Housing is good as Civilian. The Mall is down the street, A local pub as well, new Soccer field, Ampithear is nice. There are Base Rules that apply. Know them well.

Quiet, Civilian or Military? They have a lot Banana Rats and Iguanas, snakes. Gotta be careful. Little small Military Base,Some spots you won't have access to because of Security concerns. I liked it, Lived there 5 years, I would go back, If I could.

What I loved about working at #U.S.ARMY was

The US Army is a great institution, I enjoy my time serving my country. It’s all about what you make out of it. It work for some and it doesn’t for some. I got nothing bad about the US Army other than its hard work and sacrifices but if you make it to the finish line it will all be worth it.

Did You Know...?

Wells Fargo has a team dedicated to helping military veterans transition from the military life, to the private sector life. They have specialized employees who can speak your language, and help you translate it so a Wells Fargo recruiter can understand why your experience is perfect for a job there.

They are Wells Fargo’s Military Talent Strategic Sourcing Team. And they helped Rick McCary land a job in risk management at Wells Fargo.

Interested? Here are some Wells Fargo resources to get started!

What I thought about working at #MasterMarine was

Privately owned company and I liked my job...what I did....working with customers one on one. BUT....there was no true leadership from the “managers” and one in particular on the parts counter was super lazy and fell asleep multiple times per day and nothing was ever done about it. I am a disabled VET and hurt my back and needed some time off. I called the “service manager” on Monday morning and told him I would need a few more days off and would let him know. I called on Tuesday to find out that I was terminated because I didn’t call in Tuesday morning after I had told him the day before that I needed a few more days. He lied on a regular basis about many things and was the first to blame someone else for his mistakes. Whatever you do, don’t go to work there.

It taught me patience, ability to remain calm in stressful situations, confidence to lead a team, and the many skills I was able to pick along the way
