I would say the most stressful day that I ever had was, the day I came back to Iraq from coming home to see my daughter born. My convoy was hit by an IED, while we were down and assessing our situation and getting all injured that we could out of harms way, we started to take fire from a group of about 20 terrorists. I had to just take a breath and keep calm and keep moving on keeping everyone that I was able to safe.

Things I learned in the Army that translated to the civilian world

The biggest thing the Army taught me that has helped in the civilian world is just how good of an impression showing up not on time but early to work has on your employer. It is the quickest and easiest way to instill confidence in your employer that they made the right choice in hiring you. It is also a quick an easy way to separate yourself from your fellow civilian employees in managements eyes. It is unbelievable just how many people lackadaisically walk into the office 10 to 15 minutes late without a care in the world.

Unit Supply Sergeant

If you have ever been in the military you know that the job of a supply sergeant is one of the most strenuous jobs in the army. My company had over 75 personnel that I had to request clothing, rations, billets, and personal field equipment, maintain records on ALL classes of supply conduct inventories, deal with local purchase and vendors and also supervise a section of 4 personnel.

A military position denied

From Sgt. Robert US Army

Nobody has a "right" to serve in the Military. Nobody.

What makes people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? Very far from it.

The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short.

Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers.. Poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identify as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can't run the required course in the required time? Can't do the required number of pushups?

Not really a "morning person" and refuse to get out of bed before noon?

All can be reasons for denial.

The Military has one job. War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability.

Did someone just scream "That isn't Fair"? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful.

YOU change yourself to meet Military standards. Not the other way around.

I say again: You don't change the Military... you must change yourself. The military is not the place for 'social experiment.'

The Military doesn't need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars.

If any of your personal issues are a liability that detract from readiness or lethality... Thank you for applying and good luck in future endeavors. Who's next in line?

A time I was disappointed at #U.S.Navy

I must have misunderstood the question. My naval experience was nothing less than phenomenal! Even my unpleasant journeys were growing experiences which makes even those times endearing.

My first day at #amvets

I was ask to come in with some friends to one of their meetings, before I left the meeting I was nominated for the position of Hospital / Va. I gladly accepted the position, then after a year, I was nominated for 3rd vice, after a year of serving for that position, I was then nominated for President. I've been President for 2 year's. I'm am also currently the Ohio state Sergeant Of Arm's. I enjoyed everyone of these positions.
