The biggest mistake I made as a #CollectionSpecialist at #Melissa&Doug ...

Trusting that the company would recognize a hard working responsible adult with 30 years of proven experience in the position I was hired for

I wanted to work at #Melissa&Doug because

The owner’s office is covered in one way mirrors so he ( Doug Bernstein) can see what’s going on. Employees are prohibited from speaking to each other. You are spoken to if you use your cell phone. The IT department blocks cell service for all phones in building. Doug would routinely make rude announcements on the PA system.

I wanted to work at #Melissa&Doug because

I needed a job. Let me explain their standard interview process. I went to the company 5 x for an interview. The first day was 9 hours long. I had to sing karaoke, I took computer tests and interviewed with several people. I sat with employees in the Dept I was applying to and watched them do their daily activities. At the end of the day , I was told to send the hr person an email explaining why I wanted to work there. I went back 4 more times before I was hired. They requested my w2 tax forms and offered me 10 k less than my current salary. After i was offered the job, they informed me that the standard work hours are from 8 am to 6pm with no overtime.

What I loved working at #Melissa&Doug

I worked there for 5 years and pretty much hated 90% of it. Ownership and management was brutally natzi. Coworkers were horrible.
