I been with a company for 15 years with no growth. I decided to go back to school to further my education into medical administration to obtain a degree. So I can be open for more opportunities to advance my career. Took it to my manager, He stated he could not accommodate me. I was upset because we have enough employees that is per diem that can cover my shifts. All I needed was two weekends to be covered because I worked every other weekend and my classes were In the evening. But then I notice an employee with less seniority than me was taking a vacation every month. I ended up having a conversation with this employee regarding me going back to school and wanted to further my education. I also asked the employee if it was ok to mention her for when I decide to have another meeting with the manager. She was ok with it and she even offered to pick up the days that I needed off. Wow! ( Long story short) Per the manager, stated the same answer again. I’m not able to accommodate because I have a need and the employee had it writing that she needed the time off and if it was ok she will accept their offer. The manager prior had already granted the offer to her. So of course I went through the chain of commands with union reps involved and the union asked management and HR to produce the employee letter. No letter, no time off for school and basically it was a freaking no with a slap to the face. I was so upset and frustrated with this company who cared for their employees and patients. At the same time, I was on-call with Kaiser for 3 years trying to find full time work. Another job offer came from a post acute care company , I took the job due to the fact that the position was created and I would be able to work from home and make my own hours. So I ended up leaving the 15 year company and kaiser and took a big pay cut. I was ok and ready to start new. Thinking to myself, I can work one job, have more time at home and go back to school. I get to this company, all hell broke out with the staff. Staff complaining about how they’re over worked, unhappy, not enough staff and not enough pay. I literally walked to my office fell to my bad knees saying why why why me lord! Shaking my head. But I got up re-grouped and just resume my responsibilities and stayed smiling. After a month, they eliminated my position on top of me finding out that my mom have myeloma cancer. I have been unemployed since September 2019 on a look out for a job. I try to read every one story on here knowing that I’m not alone being unemployed constantly looking for work. I’m signed up with temp agencies applying to jobs with 100 applicants just about doing all I can do to get a job before unemployment runs out. The stories I read on here be a lot but serious situations. I’ve gain strength, laughter, Be in tears, and new responses to add to for interviewing. Just a lot of things I can relate to. But I can say this, I’m always letting the temp agencies know that if they really looking for people. They need to create an account and read the stories on job case and reach out to the people and send them to work. Because we here!
