I made 50 cents a mile
Before I drove for Lyft I was a truck driver. I liked it alright. I got paid 50 cents a mile. I had days I turned in over 600 miles, and days I barely broke 200. I made around what an average teacher with tenure might make here in the states. But because I was paid by the mile, I didn't really know until the end of the year what the hell I actually made. All I knew is my goal was to drive as far and as often as I could safely. Not much has changed with Lyft except all I haul now are passengers. :)

Tryin to keep movin
Just made a big move to the East Bay California... Was doing Lyft for a while and that was great working for myself! Till an aahole hit-and-run driver left me with no info and a Big Bill to fill. Apparently my eye sore of a car was too much for the passengers and they cancelled my account so now it's a real struggle to get back on, till I can get my car fixed. Needless to say I'm swarmed with bills, all these job apps are getting on my nerves because they go nowhere... Don't know what to do trying to stay positive willing to take anything at this point even checking in at fast food joints... The struggle is real and I'm only getting older :-(

need a ride bad
I've recently lost a job because of my car. It's been great but wearing out with a ton of miles.Ive not been able to finance one because I've not had that good paying job I've been searching for. I could really use some assistance if at all possible I'm 58 and still trying. I could also drive for this Lyft job if I could get one. Thank you so much for responding back Susan B Williamson

The Importance Of Community at Jobcase and Lyft
#Lyft #Community #My2018Drives
Lyft drivers and riders are fanned out across the entire country, yet the power of the Lyft community transcends this distance. Sound familiar?
Somewhere between reading stories of “random acts of kindness,” the recognition of standout drivers, and the ability for everyone to connect with and learn from each other, it becomes apparent that the sense of community among Lyft drivers is not that different from the actual community here at Jobcase.
There’s something personal about giving someone a ride: the way it can make their day (or yours), that feeling of knowing you’re helping someone out. Even if you have a silent and on-the-phone passenger, still, it’s not a taxi, it’s not a bus...you’re sharing a car – your car – with someone. That’s why the whole Lyft experience is more of an interaction than merely a transaction.
Right now, Jobcase is running a contest for Lyft drivers – we’re giving away a brand-new Ford Fiesta. To enter, we’re asking Lyft drivers to visit our community and share a story of a memorable ride. Visit the contest page to post your story and view details.
“Is this for real?” You might be asking yourself. We assure you: yes, THIS CONTEST IS REAL! We want to help you. Last year’s winner, Mohamed, is pictured below in his new ride, and you can watch the video of the big reveal and read his winning entry.
In our Jobcase community, Lyft drivers are encouraged and empowered to share their experiences. Here at Jobcase, members are the engine of our community: your experiences and points of view are what fuels the journey of others. That’s why we’re asking Lyft drivers to share a story of a memorable drive: a drive where you helped someone out, or laughed so hard you cried, or maybe even made a new friend...a drive that became unforgettable.
We can’t wait to read your story.

Lyft driver taxes
First thing to determine is what % of your car use is for business and ideally have received a business license. That is best but... as long as you have receipts...gas, a % of car maintenance including oil, tires, tune ups, mileage, registration fees and taxes. If you pay for parking or even parking garage fees. Did you have to pay for a mileage/fee calculator? How about tax consultant fees for your business account? Don't be untruthful, but you can be creative as long as the cost is directly relatable to work, then you can deduct it (or a % of it if the item is partially for work and partially for personal use. Even the cost of the business license is deductable.

Working as a Lyft driver
I’m curious about driving for Lyft I did go through all the procedures with Uber, Got the app, registered with them. Then I found out by comments of their drivers that it was pretty much a rip off Can anybody out there tell me it’s different with Lyft?
