Hospitals and healthcare employers hiring! Job Fair May 2nd

Boston area Healthcare employers are hiring, and many are visiting for a Job Fair next Tuesday, May 2nd. The fair will run from 1:00 - 3:00PM at JVS offices at 75 Federal St, 3rd floor, in Boston.

Representatives from many employers including hospitals, home health aid services, assisted living facilities, and more are hiring. Participating employers are listed below with links to their job openings and the list is growing:

They don't what's going on

I went to drop off my resume to human resources for a job that was at a job fair. I was giving the ladies name and when I went to drop my resume off she told me that was an internal job only. What a waste of my time!!!

The Sysco Iowa, located at One Sysco Place Ankeny, IA 50021 is currently hiring a Sysco Job Fair!! NOW HIRING Selectors.

Responsibilities include:
POSITION SUMMARY: This is a warehouse position responsible for operating an electric pallet jack or forklift, selecting the correct products from warehouse racking, labeling product using SOS label technology, palletizing product as it is selected to build customer orders and delivering product to the dock in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires working 6:00 p.m. until end-of-shift until all product is accurately selected and loaded. Overtime hours and working weekends and holidays are required in order to successfully fill customers’ orders. Job requires working in areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather conditions, and on selecting environment (Dry, Cooler, Freezer). RESPONSIBILITIES: • Hand select orders within various warehouse environments of fluctuating temperatures, including Dry, Cooler, and Freezer. • Operate assigned SOS unit to create labels; correctly place labels on product. • Stack product on pallets in accordance with proper selecting procedures (for example, no stacking heavy-on-light, labels facing out, etc.). • Operate an electric pallet jack or forklift to transport product. • Stage pallets for loading on proper dock locations. • Follows SyscoSafe preferred work methods at all times, and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions. • Follow sanitation requirements in order to comply with policy set forth by the Company and by AIB (American Institute of Baking). • Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment, including but not limited to pallet jack, SOS unit, and personal protective equipment. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and safely operate all mechanical equipment. • Frequently lift product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72 inches; constantly bend and twist while operating a pallet jack and/or forklift, retrieving items from lower shelf areas. • Shrink-wrap product on loading dock. • Attend all required company meetings. • Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Qualifications: • 18+ years of age • Pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screening, Background Check, Physical Abilities Test). Preferred Qualifications: • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent • 3 months’ warehouse experience • 3 months’ experience operating an electric pallet jack or forklift • Previous experience at Sysco or in foodservice industry Professional Skills: • Able to meet or exceed minimum efficiency levels established through an engineered production standard. • Able to work rapidly at a constant pace for the entire shift, in a fast-paced environment. • Able to meet or exceed established cases per error goals. • Develop a good working knowledge of product, placement, and inventory control techniques and procedures. • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Requires working overtime hours, working weekends, and holidays. • Requires working in areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather conditions, and on selecting environment (Dry, Cooler, Freezer). Big Hiring Season Awaits You!

Job Fairs and Hiring Events are happening all over the country this time of year. This could be the only opportunity you get to meet face to face with a hiring managers so try not to procrastinate and let a hiring event pass you by without attending. Here’s a few Big Up’s before you go...

Set-Up -----> prep online before the event or get a floor plan at the entrance and identify where the Top, Mid, and Low level companies that meet your interest are located.

Warm-Up -----> start off with a couple of the Low level companies as practice run and warm up your pitch until you feel a fluid ability to articulate what you want and what makes you the best candidate for the job.

Follow-Up -----> ask for business cards, emails, or direct contact numbers from everyone you talk to and follow-up with a Thank you message.

One more thing … think of these events as an appointment to talk directly with people who can open a door for you to participate in a hiring process that may lead to a new job if you’re able to make an impression worth remembering. So, prepare to Be Memorable!
