I'm old, too...
I've been looking for work since December 2017 when I was awarded my Master of Science in Counseling. I already have over 40 years of counseling experience/practice but no one wants to hire me. Guess they are afraid I'll try to take their jobs, or else die before they get their pound of flesh out of me. By the way, I turned 70 this past August but am still in excellent health and can run circles around folks half my age. All else aside, I need a job or I will have to give up everything I worked for BEFORE I got that damned degree. What am I expected to do?
The most stressful part about volunteering at #Counselor was
Nothing stressful except to convince the City to support the mission of the organization in full. Other than this, the organization was rewarding and more fulfilling knowing we were giving a different outlook on life to young black men going into the real work. May not have been all the tools needed for success, but it was the foundation to know they are not alone in their walk into life.

I am trying to change careers. I recently started a Masters program in Mental Health Counseling and found out I am qualified for being a case manager in the counseling/psychology feild. However it seems those jobs are hard to find. Needing help in a step in the right direction!

This is my story... I have three degrees and can't get a job in Counseling because I don't have any experience. I want to say to all Human Resources employers, how can I get experience when know one will opened the door to hired me. I went to college and Master counselor/academic advisor, all I need is a job in counseling/academic advisor in Higher Education. I know everywhere you go someone will have to show you what to do, any place of employment. I intern at a Community College and do have my Community College Teaching credentialing. Sometimes employers miss the best candidate for the job, and take the experience person, but they don't have people skills. Just saying!
