What I loved about working at #Bemis North America / Amcor Flexibles Company was
Hi Jobcase asked me what I loved and have since taken away from my job, specifically at the Amcor Flexibles Plant at Pauls Valley, OK. I can say from the day I stepped foot in the Plant until well after I left Amcor, that the experience in Pauls Valley was a rewarding and lasting friendship with nearly everyone I met and even some I didn't hardly know there. I probably learned more than I taught there, especially about priorities and appreciation for different types of jobs and especially learned a lot about Manufacturing and how it can be done with mutual respect throughout the plant and how much better the work environment can be when everyone without exception is made to feel like they count in the craziness that can happen in the midst of a Pandemic. I would go back there in a heartbeat if I received an offer! Not so much enthusiasm for other locations though.

What made me stay at #Bemis Mfg was
I'm a company guy until a company proves that I shouldn't be. I started at Bemis very early in 2000 and left late in 2011. From 2008-2011, I was stuck because I had a preventable but serious work related injury. It was preventable because the company long knew about the issue that caused my injury and refused to do anything to fix it. Even after my injury I literally had to fight them to get the matter resolved.
The HR director (at the time, I'm not sure he is still there) created an extremely toxic and hostile working environment. Even after an employee repeatedly threatened to shoot the place up and admitted to having a hitlist, nothing was done. I shouldn't say that....while the employee wasn't fired, suspended, or even written up, the whole department was chewed out and told to get along. A memo was also sent out to everyone in the company along those same lines. This incident got MUCH, much worse and more dangerous. I'm fortunate that i am still alive.
I declared war on the HR guy and we each did our best to try to get the other one fired. He blamed me for production issues that happened on days and shifts that I didn't work and I secretly gathered recordings of him admitting to doing these things.
The union here is absolutely useless! The top union people are in bed with management and will not have your back in the slightest should there be an issue.
It is very hard to find anyone that has anything positive to say about the company.
in short...STAY FAR, FAR, FAAAARRRRR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!
