My Uncle worked for Amtrak for over 35 years until he retired. He really loved his job (which was working on the tracks) and the best part is he is STILL able to enjoy some of the amazing benefits like taking the Amtrak train free of charge for life.

Amtrak employs over 20,000 people across the country and they are always looking to hire more! The best part? There are so many different types of jobs:

  • Customer service
  • Engineers
  • Railroad operations
  • Working on the train (think conductor!!)
  • Information technology
  • ...and tons more!

Curious if they are hiring near you?

Without a doubt 9/11/2001, because of the mass uncertainty of just "what the heck was going on?" It was stressful because there were a lot of moving pieces that had to come together to safely restore passenger rail service into and out of New York City, and the Northeast Corridor in general

After almost 20 years in the freight rail industry, I desired to gain experience in the passenger rail industry as well.

its already frustrating enough that employers are fickle these days, nut they are also picky! i'm back at the same dish washing job I've had for years. i want a conductor's job with Amtrak. but it seems like nothing i do is enough! What am I doing wrong here?! I can do the job with ease, but where do you get training for something like this? i haven't been able to find anything online and and only word they seem to know is the word NO. Seriously, what is it going to take?
