If a company offered you a paid one-week trial instead of using a traditional interview process, would you do it?

Imagine this scenario - you apply for a job you are interested in and receive a call inviting you to start work on Monday at 8AM on a trial basis. No interviews. On Friday, you will meet with management to decide if it's a mutual fit. Would you do it?

Yes 1000% yes! I have been saying this for years! It would make more sense for companies to do this. Not only to see if we would be a good fit for the position, but to see if we would even like the actual job. Makes the most sense. Edited this to say that I'm a very fast learner and usually learn a new job/skills within first few days and by the end of the week usually know what I am doing. Now that won't encompass all there is to learn, but the jist of the job and duties.

Yes, I love demonstrating my skills and putting my abilities into action. I think it builds trust and teamwork. A great method to find the perfect fit.

YES! For sure I would work on a try out basis. I once convinced a healthcare company to allow me to work on a trial basis. I didn't get the job because I could not lift the required weight, but I enjoyed the experience and gave it my best.

Interesting but initially thought scam. What about security concerns, ie ip or sensitive information? Then there’s major liability issues that would need to be addressed. I guess it would depend on the company and the position - but I wouldn’t want to do all the paperwork for a new hire let alone any onboarding or training. It makes sense in a perfect world perhaps if this was a service outsourced via a temp agency. I want less paperwork. Interviews help me with that.

Yes :) since so many clinical trials these days are scams anyway. Also, this would be a beneficial way to attain a long term goal. It's practically a gift that keeps on giving if you choose it to!

Absolutely I would love to. You'd get the opportunity to prove yourself, instead of these thanks for applying emails.

Absolutely!! It would definitely help with turnover, people come to a job site and think it's peaches and cream then once they're hired and the reality of the job kicks it they're gone. You went through the hiring process for nothing and it cost you more to onboard them.
