How should you respond if an employer asks about your current pay in an interview?

Negotiable

I'd tell them for negotiating purposes. Don't be scared to play both sides of the fence. You'll come out financially better for it.

Personally I've been asked this before, I question the ethics of the question and to what good that information will be. He then switched ta ask what would I be comfortable making as a salary. I really meant it , what goods that information of its to low they think your not worthy of more ,yet if it's to high that your Noth work that much. It's actually a control question. I find that so many questions are actually ego driven an seem outside the scope mostly.

I would love to make more if my output isn’t where it needs to be let me know or if it is then let’s talk now lol

I would be like I don’t know what’s yours? I thought we wasn’t allowed to discuss this

I understand you would like to have all information about me, so you can determine if I am a good fit for this opportunity based on alignment with my current skills as well as the salary that I am looking for; but before I answer I would like to know what the exact budget or salary range is for this position, so that I know what options I have

Absolutely!

I have never had a cleaning job with a client. But I do clean like A pro!

Be honest tell him that's why we are talking, looking for more money
In accordance with industry standards in alignment with skill set and performance
