A higher salary is always best since the company may not do well. Also too many taxes have to be taken out of bonuses but the companies don't tell you that do they???

I would rather have the higher salary. Things happen so a bonus can become a thing of the past really quickly. A higher salary is permanent as long as you keep your position.

@Bill Branstetter, I think I would rather have a higher salary without a bonus rather than a lower salary with a share of the company profits, if the higher salary was substantially higher than the lower salary.
I say this because anything can happen before bonus time arrives: The company could go under, or I could go under before bonus time...
