Legal Assistant

I am graduating with a 2yr legal Assistant with a 3.80 GPA. Would anyone hire me with a Felony?

I have a Felony. Would anyone hire me? I have completed everything required of my sentence. It's being reduced down. I just want to be honest going through the door. #jobsearch #interview

Someone will hire you, usually a smaller company but will have to apply to twice as many jobs. Sorry to say that but I know someone who went through this. Also most companies don't do checks past 7 yrs so it will get better.

Try and have your record expunged and it will no longer exist. Depending on the class of felony will determine if the judge will consider expunging.

Legal Assistant

To everyone that has given a response, I so appreciate every one of them. You really wouldn't understand how much it means. I am my worst critic. It took me a long time to want to even look at myself. With support, I was able to see that good person again.

Thank you all,

Steven, I have seen individual with Felonies flourish. Your job search will be more difficult. If possible, it would be helpful if you expanded the geographical area of your research. Best.

I think it really depends on what the felony is. Some felonies if they were done 10 years prior, if you can explain and it is not one of the biggies like Murder, sex crimes etc and you have had nothing since then, sometimes and it depends on the attorney, they are willing to take a chance. But it is going to have to be a private practice, a big firm or court house will not give you a shot until you cut your teeth, so to speak, and you will have to start as a file clerk or secretary. Unfortunately, a legal assistant has to be beyond reproach and record will make then shy away. So my advice would be approach private small attorneys and inquire about file clerk, secretary, or receptionist. Tell them right from the jump about the felony and explain how it went down and what changes you have made to ensure it does not happen again. Tell then you know you have to earn that trust. Your criminal defense, torte attorneys will be the most hesitant, so focus on bankruptcy, will and probate, employment, personal injury, and maybe divorce family law. That would be my advice good luck.

Congrats on graduating! Glad that you want to be honest and I would definitely agree you should be, if a company has a problem with that they don't deserve you. Personally I'm inspired and impressed by people turning their life around and learning from mistakes.
