well, it's one way to get rid of seasoned folks (over 55) I don't use the term "old" anymore. I see myself as a perfectly seasoned prime rib steak. My hair is NOT grey (gray) it is SILVER....like the (element) mineral. Much more classy

A lot of companies never recovered from the covid shut down.

Retaliation in the workplace.

Our system is so broken they need to make some changes soon. You have people that actually worked and they can't get their benefits but you have people that are making fraudulent claims and they are getting someone else money. This is Krazy with a K.

It's a variety of things. Covid did a number by killing folks.
Companies who couldn't afford or weren't prepared for the hybrid and remote worklife could do nothing but drop folks off.
People willingly leaving their jobs, refusing to go back into the office, be it due to gaining self-respect or because the office is a breeding ground for viruses.
That's not to mention the unemployment packages released, at least in the states, regarding the pandemic. You can make more on unemployment than your job in some states.
People are losing their jobs because they and the places they work for had to deal with a massive overhaul in how their system traditionally worked. That breaks down into a LOT of reasons as to why they're losing them, but they're also equally gaining them, even though it seems like no one can get hired anywhere. There is significant change happening.

I lost my job in Aug because I had too many birthdays. Yup, legal age discrimination in my occupation so now I need something to fill in 1 yr and 4 months until I can draw my SS and retirement. Doesn't look like it's going to be easy.

because of corona
I think some companies have found they can be more profitable with fewer employees.
