Injuryed on the job /Wrongful Termination

If I am a senior working I did take out short-term disability and sure enough I was injured on the job as I sat at my terminal taking calls that day earlier in the week I had a disagreement with my team lead and as I returned from lunch that day I smelled odor of roses in the air so I said what is that smell as I turned around She was standing there with the bottle in her hand pumping this spray into the air about 9 pumps looking around to see who's saw her and then she set the bottle down As I looked up I saw her and told her I was having an allergic reaction I thought I was because I felt like I was gonna vomit she walked away and I had to manage to get myself to the emergency room to be rescued because I have an upper respiratory disease it took me a month to recover from that I ingested that substance that she sprayed and God I almost died when I came back to work and reported that the HR first of all they resented the fact that I said almost died however I almost did I took steroids and everything I they expecting me to go right back over there in the same chair in the same position with The same manager to work and so much trauma had been done to me over that month I was out I could not sit there my mind would not allow me to sit there and I reported that to HR as a result they moved me to another team I was there a short time before that Manager said I better do what she says or she would spray me Reported it to HR I was terminated,,,

Administrative Secretary at Salinas Union High School District

Once as a new employee to a well established company, a very young employee gave me attitude. I simply asked my manager if I could use a private office and meet with her. This was her first full time job, and I had years more experience. Permission was granted, we discussed our own experiences and responsibilities. In under 15 minutes, we ironed out some of the misconceptions and worked well together for seven years.

I was in a situation where I had to work with people that had dyslexia, short term memories, talk to themselves, etc. Not having these problems, I tried to help these people as best I could and tried to be as kind and helpful as I could

Let’s celebrate the power of adaptability

Good morning, Jobcasers! Each week, we highlight a community member whose insights reflect not just experience, but thoughtfulness in how they show up and lead. 🏅 Bill Carroll

Bill shared a methodical, steady way to handle shifting priorities in the workplace. His advice? Clarify the change, re-baseline your workflow, protect the timeline, and keep everyone informed. His answer reminds us that adaptability isn’t about reacting fast—it’s about responding with clarity, communication, and purpose.

💙 Thank you, @Bill Carroll, for modeling thoughtful leadership and reminding us what it looks like to navigate change with confidence and care.

Age discrimination. Age discrimination is supposed to be protected. However, when you fill out the application, you must enter your birthdate. I’m 68 but I am a very young 68 and I am still wanting to work. I feel companies see my age and I never hear back from them even though my resume is stellar.
