To be a support technician you have to be a good listener, good problem solver, the ability to assist in a timely manner, have good communication skills, good understanding of what the specific problem is and patience, not only with the act of support but with the customer your assisting. Customers call for support because they can't figure it out and sometimes you'll get an irate customer that isn't real easy to communicate with because they are upset. Give empathy when it's necessary and staying calm, collective and having patience will go a long way.

I actually concur with Jaycee! The certifications will REALLY help you better understand whether or not you’re “cut out” to be a support technician. There are a A LOT of people who have all of the certifications that are offered! But either they REALLY DON’T want to be a support technician? Or they’re just really BAD at the job? Or a host of other reasons why they’re simply NOT a GOOD fit for the area of Information Technology. There’s a website called www.cybrary.it that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you visit! You can try their courses Out for FREE! And if you’re still interested in getting a couple of certifications, then you can subscribe to their website and get ALL KINDS of certifications and training courses from them!! I’ve been working on my Security+ certification for a while now, but I’m getting there!! I hope this information helps you out to determine whether or not you would like to be a support technician? Always feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions!!

To show interviewers you're ready for a Service Associate job, emphasize your customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well under pressure. Highlight any relevant experience you have, such as handling customer inquiries or resolving issues. Make sure to research the company and be prepared to discuss how your skills align with their needs. Practice answering common interview questions and consider seeking guidance from career coaches on platforms like Jobcase, as well as using resources like Indeed and LinkedIn for job search support. Good luck!

Director at A Legal Support Service Llc

Provide a resume that highlights your skillset. Proficient in computer skills, ability to multi-task and punctuality. Can you handle conflict? Not all customers calling are happy! Have a good example of how you handled the call. Do you want to take inbound or outbound calls. Are you wanting to do a WFH or on-site? Make sure you are able to attend all or any training without needing a day or so off. Its a very basic type of job IF you are wanting to do customer service. Salary is not great but depending on your family size and/or how much you need to sustain your home/family it could sustain or even provide enough for you to have some savings. I found co-workers friendly for the most part. I had a manager that knew her stuff. The previous comment was concise so really nothing more to add

A resume with accurate information, that lists your skills, and experience. References never hurt! Punctuality, good voice and phone skills, ability to listen and to type, data entry, courteous, friendly, you actually can hear a smile as opposed to an attitude! Use your training skills, never be afraid to ask questions if you don't know the answer. Even tempered skills, some customers are upset, irate, and bewildered, it's your job to get them through their situation and help solve the problem.
