Have you seen someone fired their first week on the job?
What happened? What went wrong?

I was fired on my 2nd day of work due too bad bedside manners with a client. Never thought about it.

I had to let my new receptionist go on day four
I knew she had just come out of rehab - I didn't expect she'd have a side business in the business parking lot during lunch.
Not selling drugs - I got 14 calls from people who saw way too much of her and her clients in various backseats.
I would have given her a second chance (concurrent with professional help), my boss (17 years sober) said no.

Me me me!!
February 2000 I was hired by Allstate to set up and market an agent starting her own agency.
Three days in I was discharged with six months severance pay and a glowing reference.
The new agent wasn't comfortable working with a woman not of her race.
I wasn't shocked or sad when she was out of business within a year.

Yes. New-hire didn't show up on the first day of work. When I called her to ask where she was, she was clueless. I said, well don't bother to come in now. You're terminated. I'll send out your paperwork.

Oh man. That would be harsh. I have not seen them actually get fired, unless they were just a no-show. I have seen shadow shifts and then people not hired.

Welcome

@Bill Branstetter I was terminated after my first day as an HR assistant. My credentials tend to have employers reaching out to me and during the pandemic this particular employer decided to do a zoom interview with me. I interviewed good enough to get land the position, but what they didn’t see in the zoom meeting were the tattoos on my head. Lol 😂
So the HR pretty much seen that on my first day and terminated my position. I was notified via email. California is an at-will termination state so there was nothing I could do about it.

That first week has the ability to demonstrate strengths and challenges it also can give you an opportunity to see if it is a good fit.

In first week of employment I have seen an individual tardiness and absent one also bad work habits
As team manager and being rather very much an out of the box person, sometimes i take in people in spite some weird features. For instance, when looking for a super fast cust serv agent and salesperson, I incorporated a guy who did the interview from his room, bed undone and wearing dirty t-shirt... I said to myself this is the kind of guy I need since messy people tend to be super fast track minded.. Skills test showed that impeccably, he was lightening fast, I wasnt wrong with that but everything else was too much of a mess so I had to leave him.. It was my fault, one cant go overboard with originality...
