Is it possible to control the use of the company's employees by the Internet?
I work for an HR company. Employees of the company work mainly at the computer. The traffic of our office shows that these are not always sites to work with. Can the company monitor the computers of employees to find out what sites they visit ? will it be legal?

Thank you all for the tips and feedback. I'll share my observations. During the isolation period, many of us worked online. And for me it was especially not clear and unpleasant negligence of the staff to work. Many took it as a vacation! Someone even went to rest to the ocean!

This seems to appear as a gray area issue. With total honesty, if an employee is using a company's resource, product, or network, then that company is subject and permitted to monitor that employee's action. So this is not an invasion of privacy. An invasion of privacy would be having your own network and the government or another citizen unwillingly access your wifi network to monitor you. That ,my friends, is illegal and whomever committed such acts are subject to criminal charges.

Lenin and John are correct.Employers provide employees with equipment and supplies to do their job. Subsequently, there is no expectation of privacy, on the employee's part. Many employers choose to not monitor their employee's activity; however, with the growing prevalence of cyber-security breaches, more employers are opting to monitor. Also, please know that your employer is not required to let you know that they are monitoring. My current employer has each new hire to read and sign an "Appropriate Use Acknowledgement." That let us know that our activity might be monitored. Also, keep in mind that even if you are using your own personal device, but are connected to your employer's network to save on your data usage, the employer can still monitor that activity...because you are connected to their network, so you are still subject to their policies on use.

Am intressting to your compnis .

Interesting question Larri. I did some research for you and it turns out companies monitoring their employee's internet use on company resources is perfect legal. In fact is is very common. A survey from the American Management Association in 2015 found that at least 66 percent of U.S. companies monitor employee internet use, 45 percent log keystrokes, and 43 percent track employee e-mails.
Most of the time it is for legitimate reasons - they need to make sure employees aren't selling off company secrets, getting their accounts hacked, enforcing company policies around inappropriate sites, measuring traffic for keeping up IT networks, or measuring the productivity of employees. Now they aren't typically allow to share your information with a 3rd party without notifying you unless it is for a crime but it is perfectly in their right to use this data for internal reasons.
In most cases you shouldn't let any of this scare you. As long as you aren't visiting inappropriate sites and getting your work done while on a company computer there isn't anything to worry about. If you do need to deal with sensitive matters at work just keep it on your personal phone and not you work computer!

Great Question larri mone ! I believe companies are legally within their rights to monitor employee internet activity if they are using the companies wifi or secured network.
Thats a quick guess off the top of my head but I'll tag Marijoy Bertolini , Will R, Cynthia Okonkwo and Skye W, who have an extensive background around this matter and ask for their feedback.
I'm super interested in the legality around these activities as we often get questions from members who ask about job searching for other jobs at their current jobs.
Thanks for raising this issue in the community today larri mone . Great Stuff!
Hey John Huang did you se this? Do you think an employees social media activity on company computers is secretly being monitored too? Interested in your thought. Thanks
We have BrainyHR https://brainyhr.io/ installed in our office. It's a simple software that automates the work. In particular, the accounting of working time, personnel paperwork, etc. is automated
