Your driving your tractor trailer down a two-lane road at 50 mph on a 45 mph road. As you top the hill a car with its turn signal on is turning left. They try to make the turn but you both collide resulting in an accident. Who is at fault? Please share your thoughts?Opinions? #truckers #truckdrivers

If they turned left in front of oncoming traffic it's not the trucks fault its the person who turned left

As a truck driver you need to be doing the speed limit at all times. And you need to be ready for whatever. Keep your eyes on the road. Watch your speed. And your surroundings. Cause either way. You’re going to be at fault.

Both you shouldn't be going 50 in a 45 while pulling a tractor trailer and the other person shouldn't have even thought of making it it's risky and ends up how you just said

The person turning left. They should have waited for you to pass completely before they even tried to make the turn. However, if you were far enough away from the turning point, they could have made the turn. But because they were being idiots and tried making the turn while you were driving by, it is the person turning left fault, not yours.

When you make a left turn into in coming traffic and have an accident, you are at fault regardless of circumstance. I know because it’s happened to me.

At fault. Or not. If a trucker gets in an accident. It goes on his or her driving record. I try to stay in the middle lines as much as the law slows. And I start my trip an hour, too and hour and a half early so I can take my time. We have to plan for the unseen.

If you are found to be speeding, even if it’s the 5 mph over that most people do, then you are at fault automatically for violating the law. Separately, could that 5 mph decrease in speed have allowed you to slow or stop or veer to avoid impact? How close to you was the other party when they turned in front of you? These are all matters for discussion.
