I was new to the job & I was placed on the register for my first day. Towards the middle of my shift, I had to go to the bathroom, so one of my coworkers took my place on the register. When I came back, a notification kept popping up on the screen telling me to have a manager check the money. I was sent on break, & my manager checked the register while I was out. When I came back, she had told me that there was over $20 missing from the register. Of course, she came to me concerned, because I was the one on register duty. But that issue didn’t occur until right after I got back from break. I did not take the money, & I made sure I charged the right amount every time. I got blamed for the missing money, while my coworker who was responsible for it, got off clean. I don’t appreciate them assuming that I was the one to blame, when they could’ve checked the cameras & seen I wasn’t the one who did it. Very toxic environment.
