My employer...Albany Democrat Herald (a newspaper business in Albany, Oregon) fired me when the supervisor overheard me mention that believed I contracted the Coronavirus while I was in prison late last year. I was fired the following day. They also said I was told repeatedly to wear a mask and did not. Which absolutely was not true. #worklife #advice #motivation #mythoughts #termination #coronavirus
I'm so sorry that happened to you. Some topics of conversation are a bit taboo like political issues, religion and health related issues also race. I tend to be an outspoken person and I'm strong in my convictions however some employers are a bit more conservative. Most work places don't appreciate when your vocal about those topics. Words of thought for your next role pick your battles and certain things you may not wish to discuss out in the open. You live and learn from your experiences, try not to beat yourself up about it! I wish you nothing but success!
Wow. I'm so sorry to hear about your situation.
On the upside I'm a great worker with loads of experience and would love nothing more than to contribute to the economy during this crisis.
No comment I just posted about it though. Very concerning though cause I am a convicted felon off parole now for at least 10 yrs now. But that experience never leaves you and conversations do happen. Deos this mean I should shy away from certain topics or cringe when one comes up? Let fear run my social networking on the job? All these things bring me to the conclusion that I'm not going to far from the "bottom. No up!"For an ex convict? Trying to drown out that part of my life with hard work dont seem to rewarding.
That’s sucks, but I can’t help but think why in the world you would say that with all the fear going around. Best of luck there is something better just around the corner for you.
Wow messed up
