Age Discrimination
A word to the wise from someone who’s been around the block a few times. If you are thinking of retiring, exiting your job for a while or trying to find one be sure you have a plan especially if you are 40-50 or beyond. Age discrimination is rampant even in the federal government and It doesn’t matter how qualified you are. #ageism #wordsofadvice

You will never know if you have been discreamanted against because of age very hard to prove. They never have to tell you why.

I feel the same way after 19yrs. on the job laid off so they say due to the COVID 19. I do believe it was discrimination due to my age. I was the only black female in the office. We do have to stay prayed up and keep the faith.

Go see a lawyer. When filling out an application. People must think us over 50 are stupid. They have nerve to ask what year you graduated high school. What difference does jt make? Yes or no is all they need. I feel older workers are still the best. Friendly, proper attire, smile and know how to carry out a conversation. Also good workers. Reliable and dependable.

Look for jobs n shifts no one wants you have a better chance.

Watch out when they insist what year you graduated. Dead giveaway. Just say yes. Not year. Legally you dont have to post year

I am 75 and just found a job as a field interviewer. The University of Michigan does not discriminate. I have worked for them before so I had a foot in the door. Others companies that do social research for Federal agencies are Research Triangle Institute in Raleigh-Durham NC; Westat in Maryland; NORC at the University of Chicago; the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research in Ann Arbor MI. Again, they prefer to hire former employees but it never hurts to try.

I've been applying and interviewing for the past two years and no luck for me. It might be I need to practice more with my interviewing skills, which I have done. I do know that because new graduates are cheaper, they make it easier to be hired...for districts.
