What you may not know about Dollar Tree employee hours?

An insider told mw that new in-store employees only get 15 to 25 hours at Dollar Tree - only the managers work full-time. Has anyone else heard this?

At the moment, I am only getting 8 to 10 hours a week. I tell people that Dollar Tree is very much a 'side job' for extra cash because most people have full time jobs and just need extra money, so they come to Dollar Tree.

Many employers have moved to a part time hiring model to avoid benefits and provide a means of being able to move out workers who don't work out or change things like availability after the fact. Part Time employees are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours. If a worker does not meet expectations they simply cut their hours until they quit. It's a reality. Employer are hiring 3 part timers to replace 1 full timer and leaving their options open. It's much more difficult to terminate a worker than cut their hours until they quit.

Since working there in dec my hrs have changed multiple times a week even sometimes being asked to stay late in the same day like at the beginning of this week I was scheduled two days then today I was told I would work wed, thurs, and fri, now I looked at the schedule not even 24 hrs from my last schedule change and it says I’m now working wed, thurs, and sat. No one notified me of the change either. This has been happening to everyone I talked to and to me since I been hired.

WAS PROMISED 15-20 HRS. BUT NOW ONLY KEEP GETTING 5.5 AT BEST..... THEY DO NOT GIVE RAISES UNLESS YOU ARE MANAGEMENT . ONLY TIME RAISES ARE GIVEN IS IF MINIMUM WAGE GOES UP! WHAT A JOKE! IF YOU HAVE EVER HEARD OF THE TERM WHEN RENTING A HOME/ RESIDENCE "SLUM LORD(S)" EXCEPT "SLUM EMPLOYER(S)" IS WHAT I THINK IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS AT THIS PLACE. AND THAT IS A UNDERSTATEMENT ...... AMUGST OTHER ISSUES THAT SHOULD & NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AT THE PARTICULAR ONE I WORK AT CURRENTLY.... I MEAN GOING AGAINST THEIR POLICY ON A HAND FULL OF TOPICS & SUBJECTS. I COULD GO ON, BUT WHATS THE USE.... NOT MY PROBLEM. 5.5 HRS ISNT WORTH IT TO MAKE WAVES & BRING ATTENTION TO THAT OF CERTAIN MANAGEMENT MEMBERS. JUST SAYING FOR THOSE WHO MAY CONCIDER TAKING AN INTEREST IN EMPLOYMENT AT THE DOLLAR TREE. YOUR WELCOME.....

I have a friend in fla that gets called in to unload trucks at night but is not allowed to clock in until the truck arrives . She has to just sit in her car waiting without being paid. This cannot be right. Does this happen at other Dollar Tree stores . How can a person be required to report for work but not be allowed to clock in while waiting?
