What is your go-to interview outfit?

When you want to look and feel your best, what is your go-to outfit?

My favorite interview outfit is:

  • Dark slim fit jeans or dark dress pants
  • A lightly patterned blouse, usually simple stripes or polka dots
  • Flats
  • Simple necklace with a watch and stud earrings
  • I pull my hair into a half up/half down style (because I always play with my hair when I'm nervous... pulling it out of my face minimizes this!)

Comment your outfit ideas below!

a suit is not appropriate for all job interviews. I personally see no point in wearing a suit to a job interview that is warehousing and physical. A nice collared shirt and nice casual pants is good. No jeans even if you would wear them on the job. For ladies no skinny jeans as not everyone looks good in them . Casual slacks are fine and nothing tight fitting or clingy in blouses or tops. A top with a jacket is something that you can dress up or down. No over the top makeup or big clanging earrings. Business casual is the order of the day unless you are looking for a job in the legal field or in a field where you will be wearing a uniform anyway. Then just dress for business casual.

Interview clothes are tough! My last interview was remote, so I wore a dark blue solid (no prints for video call) top and still wore slacks so I "felt" like I dressed for the occasion. I didn't wear any jewelry because I didn't want to distract myself. It did get me the job!!

One out of my 12 suits, usually I start with the black, then grey then navy blue. Brown shoes with the grey suit and black on everything else. I usually start with the Burberry tie and then blue oxford tie with red stripes on the second interview. My favorite is a tartan blue suit but it doesn't seem to fit with on site interviews. I have worn it on zoom or microsoft teams webcam interviews with no tie. So far none are working since I'm still looking for employment. And yeah 90% of the time I feel overdress compared to what everyone else are wearing.
