How do respond to a person in management that tells you “You were a mistake to hire full time, and I’m here to right that wrong”?

These words came from an interim manager who is filling in until a permanent manger is put in place #management #jobsearch #walkout #

Director Of Operations at E Blast Me

I'm not sure I'd be able to respond, speechless, then a calm, well worded note to HR would be my style.

First of all be the better person. Do not respond to such ignorance. That statement proved that is not management material. Yes! Report it to your Human Resource Manager, store manager and call your ethics line if you feel appropriate actions will not be taken. Most cases in these situations are managers whom received the positions per knowing someone or kin to someone,or in what is called the AT&T plan Friends and family. Those are the ones who think they can act, say and do with out anything being done. Just handle yourself professionally and handle the problem in accordance to policy and your rights.

I will ask calmly if we should discuss this with the the management supervisor, to see if I really did something wrong. This way I'll make sure it's not a problem between the management person & I.

Be professional and ask for detail about his opinion. Try to communicate in other term or place. Maybe need to know each other.

I think I would be shocked at that type of comment, and would have to compose myself for a minute, but then I would like to ask why they would say something to me like that, and if it is there opinion only, or is this coming from others above them, as well and if so, what are their concerns to have lead to this comment? If they have not been addressed before now, why not?

These are all great answers, but perhaps there is more here than meets the eye. Maybe the company is struggling, or this particular department or area is not up to standards (either company or industry). Companies often times hire "break down" managers who's sole purpose is to clean house so that they (the company) can start over. These individuals are usually given wide latitude on who stays and who goes, and perhaps they said that to you with the hope that you would abruptly quit or lash out unprofessionally. Just my $.02.
