I filed for unemployment the middle of April and I still haven’t received anything. I can’t get ahold of anybody on the phone, what do I do at this point?

I was approved for unemployment, my status says active, I file my weekly certs and I can’t get anybody on the phone #unemployment #stressful

Try calling your nearest, local unemployment office...leave a message they will call you back. I’ve also heard that contacting your state’s senator has worked for people.

When I had trouble getting my unemployment benefits in Oregon, I contacted BOLI, Bureau of Labor and Industries in Salem. They were very helpful.

I start calling your local representative office for starters. They should be able to elevate your case.

If you have already been approved then there is probably a debit card floating around there for you somewhere....one you may have possibly even thrown out thinking it was junk mail. Go to www.bankofamerica.com/eddcard and call the number for lost card. Meanwhile, you need to be certifying for all the weeks you have been waiting for your card to get paid on those too. The amounts will be automatically loaded to your debit card.

You can't get thru these people. Plus you can't leave messages. I don't know how small your town is. This city does not return calls.

Just keep trying. I have a friend who lost her job right before the lockdown caused by the pandemic. She is having to write to Joquain Castro to see what he can do for her.

I had the same problem in Maryland - nine weeks without a check., I sent an email to my state representatives, two weeks ago and got it resolved today - they said were getting back to me due to the email I sent.

It will say "help with an agency" or call your senators office. They are there to help.
