These are all skills that I mastered as a worker in the #FoodServices industry throughout the years. Consequently, these are also skills that I use in my current job every single day! Though I still work nights as a part-time bartender for some extra $$ (gotta love student loans!), I spend my days working here at Jobcase as a Community Specialist. The things I learned at the restaurant expand so much further than cocktail recipes and menu knowledge. It taught me how to keep calm under pressure, connect with people of all personalities and how to stay organized while moving at lightning speed.
I am grateful for my 8 years of experience in the hospitality industry. The transferable skills I have learned over the years has made me a stronger, more confident worker in any job I have pursued.
Also, the gig is a blast! I love being able to meet dozens of new people each day and build relationships with our regulars :)

Elyssa Duncan , tending bar is a great teacher for so many other life skills. And, I just heard the other day that several bartenders at airports earn a six figure income. Who knew?
I would agree with the positive comments about working in food service. My first jobs included busboy and waiter. I learned important skills that have served me well. There is something special about high pressure or fast paced customer-facing jobs that really push you to up your game.

Elyssa Duncan I totally agree! Working in restaurants taught me so much about managing relationships and teamwork. And while I no longer work in restaurants, it also gave me such an appreciation for the hard work it takes to be a good server or bartender!
