I try to plan my days favourably. There are always days when things happen but I try not to get involved with it. If it's a direct report employee I have procedures in place for absences and other daily factors. Be as organized as possible and if it's really bad, I bring a solution. No one wants to look bad in front of their boss, I encourage them to sort it out on their own if possible. If I get stressed I have learned to thrive in problem solving and when I'm done, I take a few minutes to myself. If not I just head towards what's next. It's a matter of allowing oneself to step out of the situation instead of getting all wound up. It's bad for you and the company you work for. If it's a big day coming I like to rally the troops, knowing it's going to be a long day. Employee health needs to be a consideration as well. Try to be proactive.
