How would you answer this interview questions: "Tell me about a time you had to think on your feet"?

when I was working in a house with disabled clients and 1 client became agitated with another and tried to throw the other client off the swing. I immediately encouraged the person on the swing to get off in order to avoid further agitation of the other client.

We had water coming in our basement. I took off running to the water meter to turn it off .

Working housing project as a armed S/O in STL responding to a fight, several people jumping one person in front of apartment building, pushed person in the building and we stood there until back up arrived.

When a customer was very upset they had been on hold for a long period of time and when the operator answered, the phone hung up. So I had to give my apologies and to let her how sorry I was noted the account and gave her a free month of a premium channel of her choice she was calmed down and better before the call had ended.

While working at a glorified "Dollar General," some wonderful lady used the restroom for Women and turned on the faucet, and left it on. I had just begun my shift and noticed a floor full of water. As customers waded through the water to shop, having just started this job, I had no idea as to what I had available to me in order to soak up all the water as it began destroying card board displays, and whatnot. Immediately, I turned off the faucet, and the water. Then, I ran over to our aisle that carries the mops and such, there was nothing large enough to mop up even a tiny spill, and immediately I thought of the back room of our store. Where we store our personal mops and buckets. I grabbed the only two (2) we had in the entire store. I began containing the leakage from the outside in. I must have spent over four (4) hours, and only managed to mop up half of the damage! Yet, I continued on. I almost had all the water mopped up, and the rest of it directly in the center of the store where I managed to safely contain it. I placed signs stating to customers, warning them it was slippery and wet, and placed cones around it all. The other employee was checking out customers, and was unable to leave his position. For just a moment I went outside to empty the buckets of water, and wring out the mops. As soon as I returned, I came back inside only to find that the other employee had grabbed the dust mop, and completely destroyed my containment of the water that was neatly centered in the middle of the floor. If only he had stopped for one minute and thought it through, obviously he did not, and we both got written up for his hasty decision to plow straight through the water! I tell this story to everyone so that when things go wrong on the job, you can't afford to lose your cool. By taking an extra few minutes thinking it through can make a world of difference for your company, and your career. Thank you!

Well while workings as a data entry specialist, I was once tasked with submitting a large report to management on a tight deadline. Halfway through, I realized that some of the source data was missing due to a system error, and if we didn't find a solution quickly, the report would be delayed. Immediately reviewed the available data, identified a way to crosscheck and fill the missing information from other files, and reached out to a colleague to verify the numbers while I continued compiling the report. I stayed calm and focused, prioritizing what needed to be done first. Because I acted quickly and efficiently, we submitted the report on time with accurate data. Management appreciated the proactive approach, and the process I suggested was later used to prevent similar issues in the further.
