How should I go about making my way into the RR Industry?

Call a local Railroad office. The human service department and get a application or an interview. You better off going straight to the train yard in a major city that repairs and fixes and cleans the cars. That is basically where you would start. The better you perform the better you will advance. In Minnesota there are at least 5 yards that I know off. My husbands worked at all of them in his 25 years.
