That's not acceptable to lie, but I'm willing to help you fix the problem.

I would not accept it but ask the co-worker to consult the supervisor for a mistake he or she made.

I would like to however , I do believe that is your responsibility to go to the HR department and let them know what happened.

can't cover it up but work with them and teach them how to fix it because that is what is right .

If a supervisor or a coworker asked me to cover for a mistake that they made, I would let them know that they are responsible for their choices. I would not be able to cover for anyone who tries to cover or hide the truth.

I would encourage them to tell the truth. I could not cover for them , because now I would be a part of the deception.
