End of The Line

So, I am one of those 'older folks' who worked for a large corporation for nearly 20 years only to be cut due to downsizing. Since this happened a few years back I have been through two other downsizing's at companies, I worked at one for a year and another less than 6 months. I've been passed over so many times for jobs, losing out to younger folk it's ridiculous. You mention to someone you think age plays a factor and they look at you like you are crazy. The only jobs at least 6 people in my field are doing now are Uber and Lyft. These were TV Weathermen, Anchors, Producers. I'm not knocking Uber but I didn't spend over 30 years bustin' butt to be a taxi driver. And, the jobs I do finally talk to people about, are only paying about $40K. If our economy is reportedly so great, why are there so many people aged 45-62 out of work or driving vehicles for a living? I don't want this to get political, I'm just curious if this is a National or Regional trend. What say ye?

45-62? Having trouble landing a job? Sound off.

Yep, the more I talk to people between the ages of 45 and 62, the more I realize if you have been laid off you are screwed, pardon my french. The real ass kicker for me came this week when I found out a major corporation hired a 2018 college grad with virtually no experience over me with my 30 years in our business. Not sure what to do but I refuse to drive for uber and lyft at this stage of the game. Are you in the above mentioned age group and having trouble? I know at least 10 people in our boat. Curious who else is out there.

Uber eats

Hi all, I am back in the looking for a job line. But I did make a choice to drive for uber eats and love it! My daughter who is 26 with cerebral palsy goes with me and feels like she has a job which is the best part! We only drive days no nights. It's a workout but we are making money and tips are amazing! In a week we made almost 400! If you reach out to me I will get you the referral link to start which helps us as well! It helps even just for extra money and you can do it whenever you want!

Frustrated and need money now.

I just started a career in real estate. Real estate takes a while to get going. I am look for a flexible part time job to pay my bills until my real estate career gets going. Anybody need a part time helper? Uber is not working out, and I need to pay my bills. Very frustrated here.
