Looking for work in Fort Worth
I just relocated to Fort Worth, TX and am looking for work. Due to my husband's job relocation, I had to leave my job of 7 years making $57000 per year as an IM Specialist for the department of Social Services, in the highest volume county in NY state. Not that I wanted to, but I can't do the same here without a license, and I don't want to pay money to do a job that was slowly killing me. I have been pounding the pavement for over a week with barely a nibble. I have great skills and a killer NY work ethic, and if I could get someone to meet with me, I know I could sell myself. Any leads or ideas?

Help!
Hey, I can’t seem to get a job. I’ve been applying and looking since May. Usually I’ll get an interview, but the second they see me it’s game over. You see I’m legally blind, so I use a cane to get around. I’m extremely proficient in clerical and social services, but no one will give me a chance. I really need a job, because living on $800/month is next to impossible. I really want to throw in the towel and just work at a sheltered workshop (a place that employs the fmdisabled to do menial jobs, like counting bandaids) that pays less than minimum wage (because they say they are ‘teaching’ the disabled job skills). I’m not sure what to do anymore and my vocational counselor won’t help me. Any suggestions?

Am I wasting my time? I have applied for over a thousand jobs the past eleven years and have been denied at nearly every turn. I have a masters degree and have completed work in two other masters programs. I am fifty-seven years old. I am a Minister of a small church and therefore am unavailable Sundays and Wednesday evenings. I have always held at least two positions all my twenty-one years as a minister. I have been highly productive at every position I have held, unfortunately they have been either part time or per tenuous contract.

Trying to hang in there !
I am from Cleveland Ohio and have been looking for a job since November. I have over 12 years experience in the developmental disabilities field as a program specialist. I left because I was on call 24-7 and wanted a job that had work life balance. I thought I could get a job ASAP ,however it's been difficult for me as I have not landed a job that I could continue to use my skills and have that work life balance....

Applying for a job at DFPS...how long does the process take?
I have applied for several jobs at the Department of Family Protective Services. Each time I seem to advance a step forward in the long, long, looong application process. The last time I reached "step 5" and took the Spanish proficiency tests (written & oral) and STILL waiting. I keep calling HR, they say keep checking back, its been almost 4 months!!! HOW LONG DOES THIS TAKE???

It's ruff out here
I've been trying to get back into DSP work but every house I applied to says I'm over qualified because I worked at a level 4 forensics home which means I dealt with violent adults I have been contacting all the great job leads everyone has been sending me but I get shut down before I can even get an interview . And when I applied for developmental centers they are not accepting new employee's because of the cut backs from the state
