The biggest mistake I made as a #Server at #R&K ...

Getting too close to people. And there to make a living and not deal with drama

Manager / Server / Serve Safe Certified

Back in the "old days", when looking for employment, we used to "pound the pavement". We would walk in to places and be seen face to face. I did very well that way. I have a big personality and made an impression on folks. It got me jobs, quickly. Now a days, everything is so impersonal and I find it much harder to find a job. I'm trying not to get frustrated but.... it's very hard, and I've only been looking for a week and a day. I see a lot of ya'll looking for months, and I KNOW that that can not be me. Period. What do I do...??

Please Advise

Good afternoon Fellow Jobcasers! I was wondering if you could advise me. Before the recession I worked in Atlantic City in a fast paced loud smoke filled environment. I thrived in this environment because I could be myself and earn my own tips. I learned the system and I was making more money than I ever thought possible. Within the last year, they opened two new casinos in Atlantic City. My question is, I was in my late twenties when I worked there and I am now in my late thirties. Do you think I should try to get another position in Atlantic City?

What do I do?

OK, I was hired at Village Inn for a server position. I started last Tues. Everything was going well until I came into work Sunday morning and my manager asked me, "What happened to you yesterday? " I was confused at first until I said, "Do you mean when I punched out?" He said, "Yes. You didn't tell me you were leaving and you didn't tell your trainer either. You just left. " I said, "No, you were at the bank. I clocked out and just to be sure I did so correctly, I went to my trainer with my ticket (that prints out when u clock out, ) and asked her to double check it. She said that I had punched out correctly. So I said, Ok, have a good night! Ill see you tomorrow!" He said, "No, she said you didnt say a word to her, u just left!" I said, "Bullshit. Check the cameras to see whose lying. " He then proceeded to send me home for the day and said he would call me later that afternoon. Ooooookkkkkk.... Fine. So this is my "punishment" I guess. Well, it's now Thursday and he hasn't bothered to call me. I don't want to call and piss him off or call his boss and create a hostile work environment, but at the same time, this is ridiculous! I need to know if I still have a job? I've never experienced this behavior from a boss before, so I'm unsure what to do? What do y'all think? Thanks for ur input!
