Work in an office or work from home?
In my career I've worked both in offices as well as from my home. Currently I work from home. Many times I get questions like "Do you like it?" "Do you get as much done?" "Do you miss working with people?" In fairness I think the answers have changed over the course of my career. Right now my answers are "Yes!" "Yes" and "Yes". If I were to offer any advice I'd offer the following:
In considering work from home roles ask yourself these questions:
Are you able to focus on the task at hand and not be distracted by what's going on in your environment? Kids, significant others, loud neighbors, household chores etc can all be a distraction to your job. Can you tune that out and do what the job entails?
Can you set up a dedicated work environment within your home? Working from a bed may seem like a great idea but it's not. Having a space, whether it be a kitchen table or a desk somewhere in the home or an office space within the home is essential to be able to turn "off" work when it's time and turn "on" work when it's time.
Do you need personal interaction with coworkers? This is a big one. Technology allows for chats but it is no replacement for the camaraderie that an office environment allows for. How important is that interaction to your job satisfaction?
If you are looking for a new job and are looking at a work from home role consider asking the employer what sort of support they offer for their remote employees. For example, do they provide for the cost of internet? Phone? Is there a way they engage their remote coworkers?
I'd love to hear from other people what you would like the best!

Working Remotely
I am wanting to share a bit about working remotely and it not being a scam. Some people cannot work remotely for various reasons but for those that have an interest, I may be able to give you some information. I work on a legitimate work p[latform called Upwork. Upwork is for freelancers that do many different tasks such as web design, telemarketing, editing, business development and so much more. The platform used to be called Odesk and it is worldwide. It is free to join and place a profile on there. You must have a verifiable phone number to register and be accepted. Pay is either by project milestone or project completion or hourly. This is not a scam by any means and there is payment protection for you. There are opportunities to run an agency there and hire other people to work for you as I have done. There are similar sites like Guru and Fiver that have jobs available. Also, the Rat Race Rebellion has job opportunities. As I find new opportunities I will post them here for anyone interested. I hope this is helpful. To those that are still seeking. Please keep applying someone is seeking someone with your skills. It may not seem like it but you are a valuable person and will be an asset to the organization that is searching for you. If anyone who has an interest in Upwork let me know and I will help any way I can. God Bless you,

What I loved working at #Hirewebxperts

Work-From-Home jobs for "Vintage" Workers
Like fine wine, cheese, and Jennifer Aniston; some things just get better with age.
Older workers are finding it very difficult to get back into the workforce after a layoff or retirement as businesses look toward younger generations of workers to carry them for the next few decades.
If you are a vintage worker, looking for work from home opportunities, consider looking into https://wahve.com/
Wahve seems to cater specifically to the pretiree market of employee. They define pretiree as "A vintage professional who has left the traditional workforce to phase into retirement in a work-at-home position and remain valued and engaged."
They have quite a few professional-level positions that are legit remote positions that older workers can do from home.
I have researched the site and read reviews and there is no cost to become a Wahve employee.
Pros There are a lot of Pros such as good work/life balance, friendly staff, great communication, good variety of job types, and flexibility.
Cons There are cons too. Some of the most common are the rate of pay isn't the best, but better than retail/hospitality. Other cons are that the positions are considered 1099 contractor, so there are no benefits and you have to set aside money to pay your taxes at the end of the year. Some previous employees have claimed that they never got an assignment, while others claimed the company they were placed with were disorganized.
I do not use this service myself, and I don't know anyone who has personally, so I can't answer any questions about how it works, etc. I am simply sharing the link and a bit about the company that I was able to find online.
If you land a job with them, please let other senior workers here know if it is worth it to enroll!
Best of luck!

Small Country Town Wife & Mother in Need of Remote Employment
Hello everyone! My name is Mari Elizabeth Walsh and I am frustrated. I am very willing to get to work. However, I live in a very rural area in Southeastern Arkansas and there is literally nothing around that would hire someone with my skills. I have five years of in the office experience with medical and psychiatric transcription. I design documents, spreadsheets, business cards, logos, etc. all using my circa 2006 laptop and Microsoft Office or Adobe. I am interested in virtual assisting, data entry, spreadsheet work, proofreading, actually anything at this moment. I am so frustrated and let down right now. I tried Freelancer and after all the effort I put into it, they wanted $5 per exam to help boost my chances of being hired. Any advice on what to do and where to look for work like I described? Thank you, in advance, for your time and help.
