Discouraging

I had a phone interview for a position then next day I had a 45 minute FaceTime interview. Then the next week I was set up for the skills test. That was 5 weeks ago! No one will tell me anything and the position is still posted! They even called my current employer. If they have no intention of hiring me why would they call my current employer?

CHARACTER REFERENCES! (Make or Break The Deal) [IBYC]

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THIS INFORMATION! (Read this please.)

Sir, here are the findings from the character reference for Jerome....xyz...resume! How's it look? Hmm, well... take a look at what his point of contact said on lines 3 thru 5...!

SIX MAJOR QUESTION FOR YOU TO ANSWER:

#1. Do you have three character references on-hand? #2. Are they prepared in your best interest? #3. How well can they communicate your skills-set? #4. What do they really know about you? #5. What will they say in your absence? #6. Did they know how important this job was for you?

Do you have three character references?

Curious

What can you do when the company hiring only wants business references, but none of them respond so you don't get the job?

My former boss is sabotaging future jobs

I quit my job of 13 years five months ago due to a hostile work environment caused by the manager and supervisor. They fought my unemployment, but I eventually got it. Since then, I have applied to over 10 jobs and found out that when most called my former boss to inquire about me, she gave me a bad name and told lies on me. What can I do to stop this? The labor board said they can't help with this. It is really frustrating.

THE HIRING PROCESS: (What would your former employer say about you?) [IBYC]

IF WE CALLED YOUR FORMER EMPLOYER...What would he/she say about you? How would she/he describe you?

Such questions you should be prepared for. What happens is this! Some people for one reason or the other may feel like, they may not ask this question! Think again my friend. When they ask this question, you don't want to be caught off guard or feel tense in responding favorably and with ease.

TURNKEY: You want to be prepared for these questions beforehand. Experience has shown that, the most uncommon questions you least expect and/or anticipate are the ones that pop-up at the interview board.

Are you honestly prepared to answer this question diligently?

Interview cut short

As you see from the title my peer interview for a customer service representative was cut short due to wiring. My interview was stopped midway because we had to leave the building. However, once we were let back in one of the interviewer’s apologized and told me to reschedule with their HR. I contacted HR and was told that they had to wait on an email from the interviewer to reschedule me. This was yesterday and today is Friday, I haven’t heard anything. I’m upset that not only did I waste my time catching the bus to the interview, but I also had to contact 5 references to fill out the skill survey in order to go to the next phase. I know this is long, but I needed to vent out my frustration.

Older workers

I am having a really hard time finding a job because I am an older person and because I have been out of the work place for a number of years. I have excellent previous work experience, great work ethics and I really want to work. I have sent out numerous resumes but it seems like no company is willing to take a chance. The only responses i get are from insurance companies. I also have excellent references. Does anyone have any suggestions i know once they saw and interviewed me it would be a different story i am not an old fossil!!

How to list reference relationship.

I have a reference who works at the company I'm applying for. She and I have known each other for over a decade and are close friends, but we also were officers in a major club together in high school (I was president and she was secretary and we and a handful of other officers were in charge of approximately 50 students). How do I list our relationship without making it seem unprofessional? I have another reference from an actual job I've worked at, but I don't want to just have the one.

Given Bad References by my former employer

I've been looking for a job since October went on several interviews and did really well but I suspect my former employer whom I am in a discrimination lawsuit is giving me bad references. I can't prove it but they are behind the rejections. Not sure what if I can do anything about it.
