I don't know why but one of my coworkers says they need to make more money but is afraid to ask for personal reasons, so they asked me to ask our boss for them. I don't feel comfortable negotiating for someone else, but he's also my friend and I would feel bad if I didn't help.

Is it okay to ask for a raise because of personal reasons (aka my rent went way up without me knowing)? I work at a nursing home and I don't think I'm going to be making enough to make ends meet but a lot of these older people rely on me for support so i'd feel bad for abandoning them....

Money is tight, or should I ask for a raise or get another job.

Money is tight but I need more. What's better? To ask for a raise or to find a new job?

Hi, I am an x-ray tech that has been with my company for 7 years. My company does not like to give raises so it has been difficult to advance pay wise through the years. I recently found out that newly hired employees were making only 50 cents less than me, which I have worked for for 7 years. They are not experienced, and their work is no up to par with mine. I understand times have changed, and the pay rate may have gone up; however, I still think this is unfair. My question is-- do I bring it up to management that I know what the newly hired employees make? I did not seek out this information- someone else told me ab it. I am afraid that if I bring it up it will only make me mad and cause more issues to an already poorly managed department.

Hello all first let me Begin by saying that I am using speech to text on this so forgive me for any misspellings or any punctuations that are not correct..... I'm currently employed by an automotive dealership, and about a year ago that decided to add another dealer to our existing dealer the other dealer is a different franchise of course now I have been running both stores for over a year now, with no extra income, no bonuses, no perks ......would I be wrong to go to the owner and ask for some sort of incentive for what I am doing ? I totally understand that for the first three to six months while the dealer gets off the ground income is not there but it's open for a year now so it is making enough income to sustain itself so my question would be would it be wrong for me to go to the owner and ask for a pay increase..... now when we first opened the dealer owner told me that something would be worked out for me there was no time or should I say date set for that..... I would love to hear everyone else's input..... thanks for your time

I have been working at local small business for a little over a year. The company has 30 outdoor salespeople that occasionally come into the office to meet with clients and 4 office employees including me, the owner, an office manager, and an IT guy. I was originally hired to do light office administration work like answer phones, greet customers, make copies, and set up meeting rooms, etc. but the business has been growing and new sales support responsibilities have been added to my job which I’ve been able to take on and manage with no problems so far. I work a regular 40 hours a week and get paid $10 per hour which is a little over this state’s minimum wage of $8.75 per hour. I looked up the national average for administrative assistant salaries on glassdoor and noticed my current pay is way under the $33K national average. Everyone at work, including the manager, tells me that I’m doing a good job and I feel confident about my responsibilities although I haven’t had a formal employee review yet. I asked the manager about a performance review in Nov and she told me that’s not something they do unless a salesman isn’t meeting their sales goals. It’s a good job a and I like the people I work with but I can’t go on too much longer on the current pay. How can I ask for a raise without setting off a red flag?
