My career changed when

I asked for more work hours. I went from inserting ads in the machines to doing preventive maintenance on them.

Karen

I quit my job in Oct. because it was a contract position and they took advantage of me and other providers, did not keep their promises, no benefits, not able to see enough patients a day to make it worthwhile. I took job and they promised me that my region would be the ne t area for marketing and promotion, which after 1.75 years never happened. My territory kept getting larger and unable to see enough patients a day to make it worthwhile. They also provided little to no training. Poor reimbursement. Poor management an very poor communication. Did not care about their employees. Total Chaos. in the end they changed I g a d EMR and would not pay to have medical records carried over but expected the providers to do it for free. Also they were going to charge patient insurance new patient assessment again because it was a new data base. patients and providers should not be expe Ted to pay for company decision to change database/EMR.

Receiver to lead.

Was initially hired as a Receiver at a Electrical Supply warehouse. Took a few weeks to get totally comfortable with the job but once I got it I was off and running. After a year they changed warehouse managers and he wanted me to change departments and I was wondering why. After 3 months another change and by the end of the year had done every job in the warehouse. Then I was made lead and shared all this knowledge training new employees and filling in where needed. Thanks for the confidence boss and will never underestimate myself again.

Got the promotion

I am now an inventory specialist and will be soon going back to school being paid for by the company I work for to study inventory management. Had no clue I was being promoted to a desk job in a warehouse. Grateful.

I need advise bad

I was unemployed for 6 month. I finally found a job and got hired towards the end of August. I have been there for almost 3 months. Right from the beginning I was nervous being I was at my previous job for 18yrs. I picked up stuff slowly and I think I'm doing great now. But about 3 weeks ago . my boss said to me that she does not trust me with giving me more responsibility. I said that I feel more than comfortable. Then I've been. And left it at that I don't know if I am being paranoid but I think they interviewed some people because I checked the sign in sheet. I don't know what to do. I don't know if I need to talk to my boss or what. If so what do I say. I like this job and don't want to loose it. I have made mistakes in the past but that's normal when your new.. Please I need advise

Are you quitting out of fear?

Quitting on your mind? Ask yourself if the reason you want to quit really has more to do with fear. Fear of asking for what you need and what you want. Is this fear keeping you from having a dialogue with the person(s)/situation making you want to quit?

Many years ago, my friend Kevin was in a situation at work. He had an important position in a job he loved, but was technically challenged. For his job, he was told he needed to advance his technology skills. Kevin was so fearful, that he was unable to move forward. Kevin was emotionally paralyzed, and did not ask for help. Instead, he quit the job he loved rather than confront his biggest fear.

Over the course of my working life, I too have experienced this fear. I was working at a company in an Inside Sales capacity. It was a wonderful company with an interesting product. A match made in heaven! I loved being on the phone. Enjoyed my customers. Until...

A new President was brought in. Nice fellow. Very amiable and kind. Let’s call him Hugo. One day, Hugo decides that he is going to take me with him to give a complete presentation to an important client. The presentation would consist of how our whole computer system works, as well as a rundown of all of our products. At this point, I had been with the company about 2 months. Now, I knew the products I was selling, but the computer system? Not enough to give a presentation to a client. Aside from all that, the thought of giving a live presentation to a group of people was so frightening that, yep, you know what’s coming. I gave notice.

Fear can make a reasonable person do unreasonable things. Would I quit today given that same situation? Not on a bet! I would have a dialogue instead.

Fear is only one aspect of why people quit their jobs. Obviously, there are many other reasons. Make sure that your leaving for all the right ones. So, before you quit your job today, have a dialogue instead.

All the very best,

Bridget

Sick and tired of being sick and tired

I love my job I have given them more than 8 years of my life. I’m currently on my 3rd boss. I held the department down when no one else was there. I worked overtime as needed during our busy season. I hired into our system 864 people in only two months by myself last year as well as processed payroll and dealt with any issues. My new boss is younger than me and got promoted to the highest position and has never managed before but we get along great now on a personal level but as my boss she micro manages me constantly tells me what I’m doing wrong and most of the time it’s because there was no communication. I’m a very passive person but have reached my limit. I finally asked her why she was questioning me so much. I vented everything and when we met on Monday she came back making excuses for all the things I told her. I finally said please start looking for someone else I will stay until you do. Well this past Friday I felt some type of way at our company event on because guess who got the spirit award for out department? That’s right NOT me. I’m so disappointed but feel bad for leaving but at this point I’m done. I am a single parent who gets no child support but yet I’m ready to leave now! Thanks for listening
