Just wondering

I just want to understand what employers mean by "you are over qualified for the job?", I thought if someone was over qualified they can bring on board great experience and add value or am I missing something?

NEED HELP PLEASE

I goto a company job fair, realize most of the jobs are not in my field of study but there were a couple office jobs(purchasing agent, project coordinator) so I stayed and applyed, was given an interview went super smooth, she said I had the exact experience and college degrees needed for the job, was dressed to the teeth, sent a thank you letter to company, then finally a month later I get a voicemail from the company saying we would like to hire you for assembly line or something and I was very confused because I did not apply for a job you could get without attending highschool let alone college, so I called back left hiring manager a message stating that Im not sure if I heard her right but I thought you said assembly line? I have two college degrees 7 years management experience, I did not apply for the assembly line. So sure enough I get another voicemail from same hiring manager, saying basically the same thing as the first voicemail completely ignoring the long message I left? Is this lady playing games with me intentionally ignoring my voicemail or could this job be for the position I applyed?? any help is very appriciated thank you!

Not Happy

So I have worked for a security company for nearly 3 year's and have put up with alot of crap. I have never just walked out of a job until now. When i first started this job they said family first if i needed certain days off for my kids Dr. Appt. They said just try to give them plenty of notice I'm a single mom working a full time job i got 5 kid's and for awhile it was great even after my original company was baught out then we merged with another company and i transferred to another area and my supervisor told me last week that i am not allowed to ask for specific day's off even though it was for a Dr Appt for my kid and i was giving him 3 1/2 week's notice of when the appt. was and that did it. I refuse to work with a supervisor that Want's me to put my kids last. Not going to happen ever. So now im trying to find a new job closer to home. And its not working out very well. I keep getting told I'm over qualified or we went with another candidate. What can I do?????

Can find a job over two years

On the west coast it’s easy to find a Job, but in Washington DC, MD & VA, they don’t like me or I’m over qualified

Feeling the job search pain.

I have been in the Wholesale Industrial Supply and service business for about 20 years . I am feeling the pain of a lot of experienced displaced workers. We have the experience but can't find work in your chosen fields. It seems to me that many businesses and companies love the experience but don't seem to want to want to pay for it. "Over Qualified"? It seems to be a sign of the times. Trying to stay positive and looking for that window of opportunity to open.

I have 30 years experience in the dental field. I have reached the top of my field and no wish to do something else.

I would like to do something other than dental. I have gone as far as I can in my field. I am an excellent employee. I have several wonderful letters of recommendation from my past employers. I am open to new opportunities. Thank You! Julie

Resume

I am very close to retirement and am not looking for an executive position in a particular company. I live in Southern Illinois, (quite rural). My resume is extensive and does not get the attention needed for lower level positions. Is it ethical to delete higher level positions to try to secure a lower level position?

The hardest part of my job search is over educated in an irrelevant field and age.

It’s difficult to get hired due to education and age.

30 plus years as a pharmacist and I can’t find a job

I have been a Pharmacist for 30 years now. My company I worked for went out of business in 2015 and I can’t find steady employment. I feel like a failure. I know I am a good pharmacist but I have had a bad couple of years. I keep applying to positions and I get Little to no response. I have been called for like 3 interviews. I got a job with a temp agency and well they have little to no jobs I am qualified to do. What other jobs can I do with my RPH degree. I am desperate. I have to pay bills and have a family to support. I don’t want to lose everything. I am sort of at my wits end.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
