What is the company culture at Social Security Administration like?

What duties would I need to complete as a Administrative Assistant?

Looking for a job where I can put my associates in business admin to use. Am looking forward to changing that to my bachelor's degree. Along with finding a job where I have room to grow and expand my horizons.

Retired from healthcare field. Looking for part time work as admin, reception, support person. Excellent computer skills. CPR certified. Currently volunteering for two non profits in Walker County. Lots of customer care, educational and community health experience. Jail ministry in past. Currently taking ombudsman training with DPHS.

The worst thing about working for the City of Gretna is
You will only get a small raise every 5 years unless you're in a high up administrative position. They also treated older employees poorly to try to force them out.

What skills do I need to get hired as a Front desk receptionist?

Hi Jane, I'd say the most important skill would be professionalism. As a front desk receptionist you are the first person anyone sees when they walk in, it's important to show your best side.

Always have a smile on your face and a pleasant attitude. Greet them the minute they walk in. Ask their name and use it. Let them know you are paying attention to them.

To Whom it may concern, I was reading through your posting for and immediately thought “they are talking about me!” With my extensive administrative support experience and ability to wear multiple hats, I firmly believe that I am a perfect fit for this important role and can excel at any task.
My most recent experience in multiple contract roles has really allowed my versatility to shine through. My reputation as an important team member who always gets the job done comes from my demonstrated ability to multi-task. I’ve worked on projects such as drafting company correspondence, preparing data reports for management, organizing company meetings and being proactive, and I pride myself on my ability to adapt to all kinds of situations as they arise.
I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to demonstrating how I can contribute my skills and talents to making your office run as smoothly as possible. Thank you for your consideration and look forward to speaking with you soon. Sincerely,
Stephanie R. Olin

Fired with no chance to talk
I witnessed a lot of verbal abuse of patients working in the ER of a local Hospital and neglect that caused the death of a newborn, everything was logged on daily reports into my boss for chain of command. Nurses and social workers got mad and retaliated and wrote things to get me suspended. I bet the allegations because of written proof and witnesses. I came back to work with 95% of the nurses and other staff happy because of the job as I do as security. the other 5% were visibly pissed off and seen by witnesses giving me death stares and texting someone, because they wanted me fired, not coming back, the hospital is 95% travel nurses who state they can say and do what ever they want because the administration wont do anything to them because they cant keep nurses there. 3 new ones quit the 1st day there saying the ER is a ses pool. Well even though I didnt stay inside the ER all night like I do every night, I made rounds and stayed outside in the ER Waiting Room Security Post because of the tension and never talked to those couple nurses, an email was sent to the big bosses going over the Security Directors and HR Directors heads saying I threatened them with Retaliation, harassed them and created a volaille working environment. I was pulled into the Office the next day by my boss and HR Director who were visibly upset that they were told to let me go because of the allegations without being able to speak up for me and not being able to speak up myself. The nurses retaliated against me for my reports and them being questioned and they received no discipline but instead go to say and do what they want and now that they see they can do this, they started now harassing the Registration staff because they defended me. Something needs to be done.

Excellent question. I’ve been retired for some time, but when I worked at Social Security, I would say most of my coworkers were reliable, diligent, and hardworking. Timeliness and accuracy were key components of job performance.
