I'll be honest and say I just fell into this direction. One thing to make you a good admin is to learn the business your working at, and if you like it but in the time to make it better. Be kind and open with co-workers, someone that they can trust and never break that trust.

Hi Angel, as Barb and Subrina stated, Community Colleges for current Admin training would be best, as times have changed and employers are requiring more education. All the best!

I would think you would have to learn the software on the computer be trained on that and if there's a certain way of doing filing or certain system for doing accounting for receivables or payables I would think also if you were relief for the receptionist you would have to be trained on the switchboard and to know all the extensions and then like the routines of but the mail you know when it goes out and when it comes in you know how do you go about Distributing it to people. I'm organized. Well focused and whatever I'm working on. I pay attention to detail. Reliable and dependable. And also know how to prioritize my work throughout the day and it's other things need to be done I put whatever I have a side to get that done first if it takes more presidents over what I'm doing. Thank you

When you work for a company and you are not appreciated an they want allow you to get rid of the people who is not doing good with the company. Can't count, an whenever money comes up short you still have to keep them.

I turned a bad workday into a GREAT one by...

Working with the homeless is always challenging because you have to deal with addiction and mental health issues. As staff we would have to take turns covering the front desk. It is important to listen and understand their plight. On a regular basis individuals would come in and cause havoc with the staff and Club Members. We as staff would address the situation with respect and kindness to defuse the situation. Knowing we provided a safe environment to the homeless we served made everyday a great day, no matter how challenging certain situations were.

@Louie Canlas I wasn't sure about some of the training that SSA offers employees but there is some training that the SSA has online. Most of the training is around the office and the rules surrounding Social Security.

What type of job would you be interested in working there? I can't tell from your Jobcase profile because it's empty. A filled out Jobcase profile will help with your career and job search. Filling out your Jobcase profile with a profile picture of you, a short bio and work history is a great start. As you fill out your profile we're able to better personalize your site experience, when you fill out your work history we're able to send you jobs that match your experience and with a personal profile picture on the site potential employers have a better chance of finding you. Also, a filled out profile on the site automatically creates a professional resume template that you can download and get a head start on creating your own.

What skills do I need to get hired as a RECEPTIONIST/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT?

You need to have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with people. You need to know how to answer phones and book appointments and filing. Multi task. Computers. You have to be very dependable and organized and do mail daily. May have to order office supplies and do invoices. Nowadays, so many offices want bilingual, I don't know that. It holds me back.
