I am moving an the Raleigh- Durham area from the current place I stay so I had to quit my job of a year and 4 months. I had an interview with a new restraint opening up and the person I was supposed to meet with for the interview didnt even show up to their own interview. I have applied to multiple jobs and haven't been able to get any interviews since that last "interview".

So as of the end of August 2018, I was recently terminated from a local restoration construction company here in Charlotte, after having worked there for almost a year (was hired in Sept 2017), reasons being I was not performing to what they expected out of me. However, before my termination I was NOT given any formal verbal or written warning letting me know of this. Now, back up to May of 2018, I was informed that my hours were being cut from a normal 40+/week to 25/week, due to a cut in overhead expenses. I was assured that my cut in hours had NOTHING to do with my performance, that they were pleased. It was strictly financial. I was also assured that the cut in hours would be temporary. Now, fast forward to end of August. My hours were NEVER restored to 40+/week, AND I was being terminated for bad performance. I failed to mention earlier that when I was offered the position, I signed a contract that said that at my 1-year mark, I would receive a $1.00 raise. At the time of my termination, my one year mark was only a few weeks away. I think the REAL reason I was terminated was because the owner of the company didn't want to honor his contract with me to give me that $1.00 raise. I must also mention that I was not offered any kind of health benefits with this position.

So, as the title of this post says, I feel pretty stabbed in the back. I guess this is how a good and reliable employee is treated? I have an excellent employment record, my skill set is diversified, I am reliable, smart and am great with people. I have been in the Charlotte area for about 15 months from the Los Angeles area, where I lived and worked for 18 years. And I have to say, so far, I am NOT impressed with employers here in Charlotte. I was treated MUCH better in L.A. I hope that I can find an employer that appreciates me and the skill set I have to offer and that I can feel I can grow with as a company.

Hi susan i am Mike from Kinston NC and i know exactly how you feel. I am a recently released prisoner of 8 years 6 months ago and every employer who has intetview me sees my background checks snd had blown me off. I have over 30 years in retail over 20 in grocery and c-store business which i went all the way up to management. What this state government and the employers has to relize is that if did have a prison record it should not matter what we did that we paid our price for our wrong for the time we served. So give us a chance and put us to work because you just dont know what you are giving up on and that is great hard working people who needs to work to take care of families and staying off the streets.

Working at Lowes in Morehead City Nc was great i learned alot about the garden center and inside garden. The people i worked with was great friendly people even whe. They had bad days. Management team and assoicates in my dept was more like a family we got along. Only thing that discouraged me was i had surgery and had doctors note and that counted against me as if i missed days so i had red boxes and the documentation of that preventented me rrom getting hired part time i was seasonal worker and worked but tail off but that doctors note didnt help althought i was told different when i started but other than that i enjoyed working there from 03/11/18 to 07/31/18 and would work there again if asked to come back
