Welcome to a women friendly company!!
I just got hired with the Waste Management Network!!!! So far it's been really good. If you want to look for a job too they have some online https://www.jobs.net/jobs/wastemanagement/en-us/all-jobs/ I am trying to get my sister to apply too. I actually found out when I was hired that Waste Management was recognized as one of the 2018 Best Companies to work for by The Women’s Choice Award. I am excited and hopeful it will be awesome. So far so good!!! They offer work-life balance benefits, paid time off/ vacation days professional development and wellness benefits. I plan to take advantage of all of these soon!!

Have some pride.
I was a mail carrier for a very long time and made my way up to postmaster. I have devoted my life and love to the United States Postal Service and I don’t regret a single second. I worked hard and still do everyday. I take pride in the job and the deadlines needed to complete the daily tasks. I have made many friends in the company because I am NEVER afraid to lend a hand or help a carrier out when they were tired, sore, hurt or when life had simply beat them down. It’s important to always help others and have pride in what you do no matter what.

I got LOST!!!
I drive for Pepsi and last week I was freaking out. I went to the wrong place during my first week on the job. Yeah I know I got a gps on my phone but it lost signal. Couldn’t use my phone and kinda remembered where the drop off location was but not really. Not too familiar with the area. FInally I called because the gps was still all messed up. They were cool and helped me find my way back. I hope next week goes better I really like it here.

I am a male flight attendant....
I work in a heavily dominated female profession but I could care less. I am a flight attendant for Delta and I really like it. I enjoy going from place to place ending up somewhere new every day. I love flying, always have. I am still young, still ready for the next adventure. I have had a lot of different types of jobs, but when I am up in the air I feel like I have a purpose. Yeah occasionally passengers are rude to you, but hey that happens in every customer service job. You gotta just shake it off! Find the good in your job and hold on tight.

It was good while it lasted
For me, coca cola products have always been like old friends. They have been with me through the up's and downs in my childhood, into adulthood, and probably into my kids' futures. I worked for them quite a few years back as a quality assurance manager and made good money. They had great benefits and I was treated with respect. I miss it there, but I, unfortunately, had to move due to my damn ex-wife. It was good while it lasted.

Truckin ain't easy
If you want a balanced life I think you have to get home most nights and eat dinner with your family or at least get home. That’s what a 9-5 job provides. There are some truck driving jobs that allow that, but most of us over the road haulers do not have a balanced life in my opinion. Of course everyone has an idea of what they want their life to be like. To me, a good day on the job is lots of miles, drop and hooks, and being able to get to the truck stop early to find a spot and have a nice clean hot shower followed by a good meal. What makes it a really great day is if I am going to make it home that night after being away 12 to 19 days on the road.

What's it like to be a truck driver?
Some say that we are crazy to drive trucks. For me this is NOT a job it's a lifestyle. Everything I do out there revolves around the truck and the company's customers. I sleep sometimes in the middle of the day or sometimes the middle of the night. I eat when I can, but definitely not when I always want to (more like HAVE to). Things at home with my family and friends kinda just goes on without me. But I wouldn't change anything. What we do matters every single day. We may not always get the recognition that some jobs do, but we are out there away from our families and friends making things happen.

I was glad to help out!
I remember one time when I worked at the Dollar Tree and I had like 30 girl scouts come running all excited into the store. They were starting a project before they went on a big camping trip. I forget what they made, but we all helped them find things they needed to finish it like glitter, paint, stencils, etc. The girls were so cute and couldn't have been more than 7 or 8. I always wanted to join the girl scouts, but my parents didn't have the money for it back then. It was nice to see those girls so happy and excited. The troop leader was so glad for the help that she sent a thank you card to our store. It made us all smile.

A smack my head moment
I worked at Kroger and I had pretty awesome customers. Wasn't too bad. No one gave me a hard time and I always tried to be patient if they were upset or having a tough day. You never know what someone is going through. Well that was until this lady asked me for "gluten-free water" one day. I swear to GOD she asked me this!!! I told her that water doesn't contain any gluten and she shouldn't worry. So she says that the other store always has the one she wants and gets aggravated with me. I ask her what brand of water she needed that the competitor sold, but she couldn't remember. I recommended a few water brands that I really like and she bought those. I just tried to help her out.

When you at Amazon you need to know...
To work at Amazon or any job really you need to have a thick skin and not take things personally. If someone corrects how you do something it's for your benefit as well as the company. While you are there you will work with a LOT of different types of people and no, you won’t like every single person you meet. That’s life. I learned how to be very fast paced and how to conserve my energy for really long days. They usually fly by quickly because you are ALWAYS busy, but you do get tired! The managers that I had were fair and reasonable. Workplace culture is basically safety first which is great when you work in a warehouse. I don't know about you, but I like a safe work environment. Just be smart, stay on your toes, be on time, and work hard and you will be fine at Amazon.
