This grandfather needed some help!!
I went outside for a cart run towards the end of my shift at Target when the sky seemed to open up! It poured…HARD. The kind where no matter what umbrella you own you know you are guaranteed to get soaking wet. Out of the corner of my eye, I see this older man making his way slowly through the parking lot with his walker towards the door. He needs both hands to hold himself up and a huge gust of wind blew his hood off. I ran over and asked if I could help him. He reminded me so much of my grandfather. He smiled and said “Nothing like a hero on a day like this.” He was too cute. I pulled his hood back up over his head and helped him inside. He was soaked so I went in the back and grabbed some towels. He told me that he needed to buy a present for his granddaughter’s birthday and that a little rain wasn’t going to stop him. I have never admired someone more. #bekind2eachother

He asked me for “clean” dirt...!!
When I worked at Lowe’s I got asked a bunch of stuff every day. Where are the nails? What type of battery does this drill need? Do you sell (insert product name here), etc. I never minded helping cuz that was my job and plus the store has a TON of stuff and it can be hard to find everything. Well, one day I am out working in lawn and garden and some guy comes up to me all flustered. He tells me that he wants to buy some dirt for his garden. I asked him if he needed help finding it, but then he tells me he found it, but that he needs a "clean bag of dirt.” I honestly thought I was being punked by my boss. Then I realize he is DEAD serious.
I politely explained that sometimes the bags of dirt leak and they can spill onto the other bags. I told him to pick the ones he wanted and I could wipe them off for him. He seemed ok with this solution, bought the dirt and was on his way. I had NEVER seen my boss laugh so hard when I told him what happened.

I was down and this job was there for me
I remember when I worked at Walgreens and I had to have a necessary surgery to remove a large tumor in my left arm. My boss and all my coworkers came to the hospital to see me. They brought me my favorite Walgreens break snack (peanut m&m’s and cherry coke, don’t judge haha) and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. One by one the whole team came that week to say hi and check on me. It meant the world and it was nice to know I had my job waiting for me when I got back.

I saved her memories.
When I was a teenager, I worked at CVS in the photo lab. This was before smartphones and digital cameras. If you had a roll of film that you took, you brought it over to a lab to get it developed. I know crazy right? Seems so foreign now. Well, a woman had come in to drop off some photos, but in the process of taking out her film earlier that day at home, it was over exposed. She told me this while crying.
It was her daughter's graduation and although it might not seem like a huge deal for some those were her memories. I spent hours after my shift was over trying to undo the damage. I didn't save them all but I did get a few great shots of her with her parents and a couple by herself. I called to the woman to tell her and she came in the very next day. She was so relieved and happy to have some tangible memories of the day. Now YEARS later, no longer in high school, and a mother myself, I know I would want someone to do everything they could to save those memories for me.

Why I loved workin the drive thru
Workin the drive-thru at Sonic was my favorite. I got put on it about once a week, and it was always a good shift. Most people hated it because there was a much smaller chance you'd get any tip money. I like to organize things and the crazy busy pace made me feel good I was accomplishing something. Probably why all my bosses since working there have noticed and told me how organized I am. For me, it was an enjoyable job and I didn't mind it.

I like it here
My favorite thing about working at Family Dollar has been getting to know the members of my community who come in to shop. I know most by name. We have GREAT customers, the best really! My co-workers are great too. This job has kind of set the bar high for all other retail jobs.

I was thankful for Lowe's when....
I was thankful to be hired in a specialty department (doors & windows) for Lowe's because it allowed me to sit down with customers and discuss their needs for new doors or windows. I like working with people and Lowe's recognized that. They took the time to train me in my area of interest. I had a good experience with them.

We ran out of crowns!!!!
I don't have kids, but I remember this time when I worked for Burger King and this little girl really wanted a paper crown. We always have em. Well I went to go get one and I couldn't find any. Somehow the shipment of paper crowns had been ruined or got lost, I can't recall exactly. I just remember staring into the eyes of this 7 year old who had the saddest look I had ever seen. Her mom told me she had been very sick this past year and this was her special place to visit because of the playground and of course the "princess crowns." I felt so awful. Well we had a Dollar Tree right across the street so I after I rang them out I told her I would be right back. I asked my boss and he gave me the ok. I raced over and asked the salesperson if they had any princess crowns. She gave me this funny look and then went towards the back. She grabbed some pink glittery thing from the birthday section of the store and I was off. I will never as long as I live forget her face. It lit up and to her she was a real princess that day. Her mom told me she would probably never take it off. They both hugged me. Sometimes you gotta think on your toes when you need to solve a problem.

I would recommend someone to work at #DollarGeneralDistributionCenter because
Team work is a plus, flexible hours and alot of advancement opportunities are available for someone that is willing to work hard

They always seem to be hiring
My boss was awesome, the hours were great at Family Dollar. The job for me was an easy one, no drama which I loved. I just wanted to go to work, do my shift and go home. When I was a waitress I had so much drama but with this job I didn't have to worry about anything. It was professional. They always seem to be hiring too. I know lots of people over here are looking for work. You can apply on their site https://www.familydollar.com/corporate/careers/storecareers
